Happy Halloween from Galway Camera Shop!

This reel brings together images of ancient archaeological sites in the Burren, Galway's medieval architecture and striking sculptures from the Galway International Arts Festival.

The photographs were created using a variety of techniques, including in-camera multiple exposures on the Canon R6 Mark II, experimental shots on the Kodak Snapic A1 35mm film camera, and digitally layered images of Galway in Lightroom.

Multiple exposure or long exposure photography can really lend itself well to achieving v dark moody, or artistic styles of photography

A few tips for multiple exposure photography:

Experiment with combining textures, architecture and natural landscapes.

Look for shapes and patterns that complement one another.

Try underexposing individual frames slightly to avoid losing highlights.

Don't be afraid to experiment – unexpected combinations often make the most interesting images!

If shooting digitally, try layering and blending images in Lightroom.

Have fun experimenting, get creative and, most importantly, enjoy your photography!

We’ve put a few photos together of Galway, Connemara, and the Burren in Autumn and winter. Irish winters are quieter, moodier, and deeply beautiful.

Empty, pristine beaches in Connemara stretch out under soft grey skies.. Winter dips at Salthill test the spirit, while golden streetlights glow along Galway’s winding lanes. The trees blaze with autumn colour before winter settles in, and sunsets turn the sky into shades of fire and frost.
