Some people ask if I ever get bored photographing the same beach, or the same families.
The truth is... not once.
I can return to the exact same stretch of sand a hundred times, photograph the same family year after year, and it never unfolds the same way twice.

The light changes.
The tide changes.
The children grow.
Someone tells a joke.
Someone reaches for a hand without even thinking.

I never arrive with a script. I just pay attention.

Sometimes, while we're walking and chatting, I discover that this place has quietly been part of a family's story for years. It has seen big decisions, quiet conversations, celebrations, and now, another chapter unfolds here without anyone really planning it.

It's never really about the location.
It's about the life that's happened there.🤍

No matter how formal the occasion, I always remind myself of one thing:

Kids are still kids.

While the Communion Day is filled with tradition and significance, it is about the child. So for me, movement, play, and spontaneous laughter tell the real story.

This is what I encourage most.
Not perfect poses, but space for children to be themselves and for families to simply enjoy being together.

We have a saying in Ireland that someone can have “no airs and graces” meaning they are completely real, and at ease in themselves. I expected that of President Connolly, but not in the way I experienced it.

There’s a gentle “air” about her. A calm character, full of lightness and fun (swipe to see who couldn’t resist the climbing wall!).

She carries such natural “grace” in the way she meets people, making every single person feel seen and valued. There’s a genuine curiosity in how she listens, and a kindness in how she responds. She treated every question with care and respect, even the ones that brought a bit of laughter to the room.

In a world that currently feels dominated by power and ego, I felt an immense sense of pride that this Galway woman represents Ireland — with humility, humanity, and heart — on a global stage.
