The Primary School brightened up the town square this morning by having a Christmas Carol Concert. A lovely surprise for those of us who don't have children at school, but well supported by parents.

Some photos from Fethard's Christmas Street Market last week. Feel free to tag people you recognise so they see the images. Another well-organised event by the volunteers

On Sunday, 28th Sept, the second Fethard Cars and Coffee event was held at Fethard Town Wall. Some lovely classic cars, a nice crowd of enthusiasts and lovely coffee - all in all a lovely Sunday morning. The Event was held between 11am and 2pm, and future meet-ups are planned. The event organiser was Ciaran Maguire, and the coffee was The Coffee Note (Amy Pollard)

"Give us a bit! Share your sandwich and nobody gets hurt"
Dublin's St Stephens Green is an oasis of peace and calm in the middle of the city but, as in many areas where people relax and sometimes choose to eat 'al fresco' it comes with its share of hazards - including the gulls who want to share your lunch!

With the hustle and bustle of the Christmas period in full swing, it's easy to get stressed about everything that must be done. All of us are just so busy planning, doing, shopping and organising...all in aid of a 'stress-free' Christmas. By the time we reach Christmas Day we'll need stress relief - and it'll be self-inflected stress! Thinking about all the hectic activity makes me long for the opposite - laidback relaxation in nature with no noise, people or technology trying to worm into our consciousness. This photo is of my favourite 'quiet' place, a single lane access through common-land to a lake in the hills of the Di**le Pen*sula, Co Kerry. No sounds but the wind, the birds and, possibly, a few sheep. No people but an occasional hill-walker or shepherd and no phone signal. Thirty minutes here is better than a half-day at a spa!

Dungarvan Town Park is a lovely place to spend a little time looking out to the sea and the boats in the sunshine on a summer day. I saw the weather forecast for the next few days earlier tonight - I may decide to hibernate until it is like this image again—sometime around May ought to do it!

For the last decade or more, we've had real Christmas trees. This year we've chosen to get an artificial tree instead. In fact, as we have two rather large front windows, we've decided to get two trees, one for each window. This is all well and good...until you spend an afternoon Christmas tree shopping! You go around just about every possible shop in town and check out their offerings. Before finally going to the shop you chose to pass by on the way into town to find what you wanted there! Thankfully there was a pitstop for coffee and cake at 'half-time' .
Most of my animal photos feature cats or dogs, but a friend keeps chickens and has a red-headed alarm clock so today's image is of four of her hens and the said alarm clock - I'll leave the titling to you...

Today it's freezing and wet here - there was even a little snow earlier this morning. Not my favourite kind of weather. Layers, they say, wear layers, but it's such a pain putting on multiple layers of clothing when you go out and then taking them off again when you return - easier to stay inside and look out the window at the wind, rain and snow and not go out at all. Unfortunately, you miss out on human interaction if you do that and, while I'd walk a mile to avoid some people, I do like to meet most people and feel all the better for their company.
This image is from a far nicer day at the Maharees in Co Kerry, a popular spot for surfing and a beautiful place to visit. It shows my daughter and one of her friends watching a windsurfer getting airborne against a blue sky with white fluffy clouds - far different from today's blank white sky

Outside, it's grey and already dusk at 3:40 p.m. It's such a miserable afternoon, with rain on and off all day and a weather warning for further rain and freezing conditions for the next few days. The kind of day you'd almost welcome the arrival of an alien robotic invasion if only to relieve the boredom!
This sculpture sits atop a local car electrical business and was shot on an overcast afternoon recently - I added the neon effects and darkened the brooding sky for effect. Shot on my phone
