‘Look up, Look out, Earth is the Antidote’
Almost another year around the sun here at Grey Area and so it seems like the perfect time to share this beautiful body of work by in what may be the smallest gallery space in Dublin, our Lobby Gallery.
Kyle has been a long time friend of Grey Area and we are always excited when he books the studio because we know that what comes with that is a fearless sense of adventure, an experimental openness and a beautiful sense of drama which he can, and does bring to every shoot, be that fashion, product or the moon.
The exhibition, ‘Look up, Look out, Earth is the Antidote’, is the initial phase of an evolving experimental project currently in development for exhibition. This series seeks to highlight two interconnected global issues: light pollution and climate change, bringing attention to the impact through immersive visual storytelling. The project encourages viewers to rethink their connection to the sky and the effects of modern living. It draws the gaze upward to the stars fading from view and outward to the earth that nurtures us, positioning nature as a healing force.
The photographs were taken over two weeks on La Palma, an island renowned for its unspoiled skies. Shot with an 800mm lens, each image pulls the viewer into an intimate, almost otherworldly encounter with the cosmos, revealing the intricate beauty of the skies in ways rarely experienced.
The hyper-close images aim to evoke a sense of wonder while highlighting the fragility of what is at risk.
