Hello all! In case you missed my last post I have released a photographic essay around the surrounding area of my home town. The project is titled Limit, and can be viewed on my website.

Link is in the bio

Please stay safe and wash your hands ✌🏻

Limit was inspired by a need to document the social restrictions posed on the public in wake of the covid-19 pandemic.
Originally I sought to document the stillness of my neighbourhood and local areas, as I began to work though I quickly became fixated on the growing number of single use plastic gloves and face masks being left behind after their use.
The environmental impact that is being caused by our haste to to slow the spread of the virus is at the heart of this project.
Limit was photographed during the original 2km travel restriction introduced at the end of March, and features the distance each moment takes place from where I began.

Last still from an unreleased music video for Irish folk band Slow Moving Clouds from September 2018

The video was unfortunately never realised due to creative differences, however the band were still delighted with what work we had produced for them at the time and were very accommodating during the production process.

The video’s story follow a young girl as she explores a nearby forest while she imagines herself fighting as a heroic warrior.
Centred against this is a more melancholiac life that she lives outside the forest.
The still here shows her hiding in her room from the reality of life.
The actress we got for the role of young girl was incredible, easy to communicate ideas with and driven to get the best take with any of the days of filming, honestly one of the best actor I’ve got to work with and she was only 8 at the time of filming.

Brian Mooney at the fumbally stables 7/4/19

Mooney opened up the night for Sikora and Chase’s event.

This was my second time seeing Mooney in the fumbally where his deeply personal songwriting style is detailed intimately.

I loved shooting this performance, I did my best to try capture the view of the audience, nestling my camera just behind someone’s shoulder, peering between heads. I struggled with deciding on processing and exporting the photos in colour or black and white. I chose both in the end as I felt they suited different qualities of Mooney’s songs.

Catherine Sikora at the Fumbally Stables 7/4/19

Sikora (Saxophone) and Brian Chase (Drs) performed an entirely improvised set in the Fumbally on Sunday.
Bouncing off each other’s energy their set transformed from ruthless drum solos, soaring sax back and forth between themselves.

Sikora giving it socks here mid performance, keeping up with Chase’s relentless drumming as they mixed between lull and chaotic.

Chase (drums) and Sikora (Saxophone) performed an entirely improvised set in the Fumbally on Sunday.
Bouncing off each other’s energy their set transformed ruthless drum solos, and soaring sax back and forth between themselves.

This is one of my favourite shots from the night nearly cracking a smile as he takes a breather to watch takes the lead for a moment. This was towards the end of the night when both musicians were just letting each other improvise off one another’s ques, they’re chemistry on stage is palpable, a few times they ended pieces when they felt like it, leaving no conclusion to a song.
It gave the whole night an extra layer of excitement as the audience really didn’t know which way the duo were going to take it next.

Chase (drums) and Catherine Sikora (Saxophone) performed a entirely improvised set in the Fumbally on Sunday.
Bouncing off each other’s energy their set transformed from ruthless drum solos, soaring sax back and forth between themselves.

You can see the mix of concentration and wonder on Chase’s face here as he watches Sikora for her next move, to pounce on an idea that the two can build upon and morph into something bigger.
