The Samuel Beckett Bridge, Dublin.

This was taken yesterday in Dublin, and isn't quite what I had in mind when I set out with my tripod and camera. The clouds earlier in the day were quite low and moving really fast across the sky, perfect for some long exposure photography.

Now I'm not normally disappointed when the sun comes out but the wind blew almost all the clouds away by the time I got there. The wind was also so strong that it was nearly impossible to keep the camera still for 30 seconds. This shot won't be sharp enough to print large unfortunately.

In hindsight I probably should have shortened it to 5 seconds. That would have been long enough to smooth out the water. As you can see, I really didn't get much movement in the clouds.

My partner brought home a big bunch of flowers for the Christmas period, so naturally I had to get out the camera. I've experimented with some abstract macro photography here. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but it's certainly an interesting effect.

I was honoured to be asked by my good friends Richard & Kellie if I would photograph their wedding. I had never shot a wedding before so they were trusting me with a very important day. Here is a selection of photos from the day.

Now that I have one under the belt, I'd like to do more weddings in the future.

I was delighted to be able to volunteer for such a great cause. I took these photos of the 3 Bay Challenge this past Saturday morning, a fundraising event in aid of the Australian Rhino Project.

Please have a look at the Project to learn more about what they are working on, it's a fantastic thing they are doing.

Thank you to all our fabulous competitors and amazing volunteers. We hope you had as much fun as we did organising the event. Feel free to tag and share the photos. Special thanks to Ian Lenehan for the fab photos.

My image has been shared on PHinspiration, a website dedicated to sharing an image from a different landscape photographer every day. The photographer talks a little bit about their inspiration for the photo and some of the settings used.

PHinpisration also offer critiques; if you are learning photography, why not share your photo with them and some of the best landscape photographers offer you some tips on how you can improve the image?

Full disclosure: I run that website. :-) So please follow PHinspiration on Facebook or sign up for the newsletter to ensure you don't miss anything!

To be a great photographer, you need to display patience and wait for the
right moment. Sometimes, as Ian Lenehan explains, the right moment just
comes to you.

Joey Washburn sent in this image of Susie Lake for critique. Let's see what
the experts had to say about it...

Despite the low cloud cover, watching the moon rise from underneath a Vivid Sydney Harbour Bridge was pretty special. It starts off on the horizon a deep red and loses colour the higher it goes.

Sydney Vivid Festival of Light is back and better than ever! Don't they say that every year? If found this vantage point near McMahon's Point last night by accident. I was heading down to the ferry stop when I noticed a photographer with a tripod on the side of the road. As I drove past I noticed the gap in the trees opened up to this spot and made sure that I stopped here on the way back up.
