A long time ago, on a coastline not so far away... 🌌

Standing at St. Finian’s Bay, it’s easy to see why the Skelligs were chosen as the ultimate sanctuary for a Jedi. As the Atlantic shatters against the shore, these jagged peaks look less like islands and more like another world entirely. The Force is definitely strong with this view.

Ethereal Lights: Aurora Over Lofoten

After a long drive back to our fjord mountain cabin following a breathtaking sunset, we were welcomed by the enchanting sight of the northern lights. As we neared our cabin, the sky erupted in a stunning display of green lights, dancing and swirling overhead. Overwhelmed by the beauty, we paused to capture a few photos before setting out to explore the island, driving through serene landscapes and documenting the aurora as it painted the night sky.

A few months ago, we lost a dear friend, Setu, who had a passion for travel and a love for nature’s wonders. She often expressed her gratitude for the adventures we shared, and we had planned a trip to Italy together.

To honor her memory, we chose to embark on this journey to Spain and Lofoten instead. These few photos are dedicated to Setu, capturing the beauty she cherished and celebrating the memories we hold dear.

Chasing Light: A Mystic Sunset at Sortland & Steinsfjorden

While driving from Leknes toward Unstad Beach, we stopped just before entering a tunnel and were greeted by the stunning Sortland & Steinsfjorden viewpoint. The sky was alive with swirling clouds and soft hues, casting a magical glow over the landscape at sunset. Captivated by this unexpected beauty, we took a moment to capture the scene, a reminder that the journey often reveals the most unforgettable experiences.

Whispers of Twilight: Cloudy Sunset Over Hamnøy

On a rainy day, we drove toward Reine, eager to experience the iconic beauty of Hamnøy. As we approached, the scene was shrouded in clouds, creating a dramatic contrast against the vibrant sunset lighting up the opposite sky. The strong winds whipped through the air, adding to the atmosphere of the moment. Despite the gloom, the view was spectacular—a hauntingly beautiful interplay of dark clouds and warm hues that painted the landscape in a unique way. We paused to take it all in, realizing that even in less-than-ideal weather, nature has a way of delivering unforgettable experiences.

Ténéré Sahara!
Tinariwen is one of the most beautiful soul sounding bands I have ever heard. It is a collective of Tuareg musicians from the Sahara region of northern Mali. Considered pioneers of desert blues. I first heard them at a Moroccan restaurant in Shanghai. Since then it was my dream to drive around Sahara while playing their music on the car. During our Moroccan road trip whenever we were driving through rugged terrain of Morroccan desert and mountains we kept playing Tinariwen on a loop. Even while going for a sunset camel ride we couldn't stop listening to them. Their music soothes, heals you and helps you embrace the desert... Here is one of their most beautiful creation in English translation.
Ténéré tàqqàl
The Ténéré* has become
an upland of thorns
Where elephants
fight each other
Crushing tender grass
under foot.
The gazelles have found refuge
high in the mountains
The birds no longer return
to their nests at night
The camps have all fled.
You can read the bitterness
on the faces
of the innocents
During this difficult
and bruising time
In which all solidarity
has gone.
The strongest impose their will
And leave the weakest behind
Many have died battling
for twisted ends.
And joy has abandoned us
Exhausted by all this duplicity.
*Ténéré is a Tamashek (Berber) word
meaning empty land or desert.
The plural of the word is tinariwen.

Sighting of Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights is quite rare in Ireland.
This year and the next 4 to 5 years will be the best time to see the northern lights this solar cycle due to huge upcoming solar activity.
This was taken on 5th November beside a country road going towards Down Patrick Head!

An Post Museum and Spire in Dublin.
The GPO was designed by Francis Johnston in 1814.
During the Irish War of Independence and 1916 rising events of Easter Week shaped this country’s history and the GPO was at the centre of it all. The historic and tumultuous Easter Rising set into motion an unstoppable chain of events which would ultimately lead to the creation of the Irish Republic.
