Last weekend was the last Milky Way core chance of the season. I headed to the Copper coast to try a shot at Kilfarassay beach. The shoot would be an hour before high tide, so I didn’t know if I would be able to position myself where I wanted. The tide came in to about 5 feet of the tripod. Luckily I was able to get what I needed then scarper before I got wet. 30s foreground shot blended with 21mins of stacked sky shots. F2.8 ISO1009, 24mm

Three weeks ago at the start of our current blue sky bonanza I went to West Cork after work, having had to take a day off for Thursday to get back home. The weekend was forecasted clear but the moon would be around too much. I needed 90 mins to shoot this 27 pane sky panorama. It was a long drive, more driving, short hike, set up wait an hour and shoot well into the blue hour. This is the Milky Way Arch from 3 Castle Head Cork. I ve been here a few times to shoot and it’s a special location. Very dark and a super foreground. Each sky pane was 2mins, iso 1000, F2. Tracked on a Sky adventurer. An hour after Astro darkness I shot two rows for the foreground.

The third and final Dublin Library talks is tonight at 6:30 in Blanchards Town library. I ll show a few different types of equipment set ups and how I take the DSLR photos from the Wild Atlantic Way of the Milky Way with the recognisable foregrounds. Some seats still available. No booking needed but perhaps contact the library to check in case of a last minute rush on seats

I went to Inis Oirr last Sunday for a night shoot. Took the boat from Doolin and after sitting out enjoying the Sun I got up at 01:30 and went out to the Plassy Shipwreck. The lighthouse nearly 1km away was throwing some light pollution my way but I was able to get dome decent data. This is a 3 pane pancakes and tracked. 3x3 mins per panel 24mm, F/2.8 iso1250, with 24m of Ha added.
