Photographer of The Year Round Two - 29th October 2026

Yesterday evening the Club welcomed Richie Hatch AIPF to judge the second round of The Photographer of The Year Competition, which was a colour print open round.

Ritchie has been a member of Mid Louth Camera Club for more than 15 years and has a keen interest in architectural photography. Richie has also provided lectures to, and judged for many top clubs across Ireland.

Richie had the task of assessing 160 prints which were evenly spread across the three competence categories of Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.

The standard throughout was excellent and a credit to the Club. Richie’s assessment and feedback to the entrants was superb.

London Salon 2026 Leigh Preston FIPF, FRPS, MPAGB,EFIAP

Drogheda Photographic Club were delighted to show the London Salon award winning and accepted images from the 2026 salon. A truly excellent set of images from this unique and prestigious international exhibition.

Honorary club member Leigh Preston FIPF, FRPS, MPAGB,EFIAP provided a superb commentary in his own informative and entertaining style.

The aim of the London Salon is to exhibit only that class of work in Pictorial Photography in which there is evidence of personal artistic feeling.

An extremely inspirational and thought provoking talk which the members thoroughly enjoyed.

Guest Speaker Viveca Koh FIPF, FRPS 15th October 2026
Drogheda Photographic Club were delighted to welcome Viveca Koh FIPF, FRPS as guest speaker to the club on Thursday 15th October 2026.
Viveca is a self-taught photographer, she holds two FRPS distinctions in Visual Art (2014) and Contemporary (2024), plus Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation (2021). Viveca is also a member of the Arena Group of Photographers whose aim is to promote the highest standard of photography.
Viveca is a highly experienced photographer with a particular fascination for small details, for lost abandoned broken objects and derelict places.
Viveca style is creative, combining images together and mixing them with textures and/or vintage documentation.
Viveca shared a fabulous array of stunning images from her extensive portfolio, and shared her creative thought processes which were behind the re-imagining of the originals.
A truly inspirational and thought provoking talk which the members thoroughly enjoyed.

Members Evening 8th October 2026 - Cyril Boyd GMPSA, DPAGB, EFIAP/ d1, AIPF, M-CPE, MS-CPE, LAPS/s, MCAS, BPE5* Drogheda Photographic Club were delighted to have member Cyril Boyd present to the club on Thursday 8th October. Cyril is a highly experienced photographer regularly providing lectures to clubs, and is an established judge. Cyril is an avid sports photographer and combines this with portraiture, nature and most other photographic genres. Cyril shared with his fellow members a fabulous array of images from his extensive portfolio as well as talking about his photographic journey. Many of the images shown have been part of Cyril ongoing distinction success. An extremely inspirational and thought provoking talk which the members thoroughly enjoyed. Guest Speaker Leigh Preston FIPF, FRPS, MPAGB,EFIAP 1st October 20262026

Drogheda Photographic Club were delighted to have honorary club member Leigh Preston FIPF, FRPS, MPAGB,EFIAP provide a talk to the club on 1st October 2026.

Leigh’s talk was entitled “Light Sensitive” and was a tribute to the work of Kathy Harcom FRPS. Members were provided with an insight in to Kathy Harcom and her stunning work.

Kathy Harcom was a darkroom based “traditional” monochrome worker. She made extensive use of three particular techniques: infrared photography, lith printing and hand colouring.

Kathy’s techniques achieve a distinctive rendition of the qualities of light that breathe life into her images.

Leigh presented a fabulous array from Kathy’s curated archive. Leigh delivered the talk in his superb unique style guiding the viewers through the various images.

An extremely inspirational and thought provoking talk which the members thoroughly enjoyed.

Photographer of The Year Round One - 24th September 2026

Yesterday evening the Club welcomed Gerald Chamberlin EFIAP DPAGB to judge the first round of The Photographer of The Year Competition, which was a Digital Open round.

Gerald is a member of Dalston Photographic Society Carlisle, is the immediate past President of The Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF), and is Chair of the NCPF Judges Sub Committee.

Gerald had the task of assessing 180 images which were evenly spread across the three categories of Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.

The standard throughout was excellent and a credit to the Club. Gerald’s assessment and feedback to the entrants was superb.

Model Shoot 19th September 2026 - Regina Piil

Travelling Model - Regina Piil, flew in from Copenhagen Denmark to join us at Drogheda Photographic Club's clubhouse over on the 19th September.

Members enjoyed the opportunity of participating in the sessions,
bringing their individual flair and imagination with different outfits and props.

Regina is a fabulous model, very professional and hard working. It was a pleasure to shoot with her.

A big thank you to club/committee member Yvonne Crawley for sourcing such an excellent model and organising the shoot.

Guest Speaker Colin Trow-poole FRPS, FIPF, MPAGB. 17th September 2026

Drogheda Photographic Club were delighted to welcome Colin Trow-Poole, as our guest speaker on Thursday 17th September 2026.

Colin is a highly experienced photographer regularly providing lectures to clubs, is an established judge and is a PermaJet ambassador.

Colin is an avid monochrome worker, enjoying the simplicity that the black and white image affords. Colin shared with us a fabulous array of travel and documentary photographs from his extensive travels in India, Nepal and Bangladesh, together with street images taken in and around London.

An extremely inspirational and thought provoking talk which the members thoroughly enjoyed.
