Spent Tuesday exploring the rugged beauty of County Donegal and stopped by the breathtaking Assaranca Waterfall (Eas a' Ranca). Located just past Ardara on the road to Maghera Beach and Caves, itโ€™s one of Irelandโ€™s most accessible and dramatic waterfalls, cascading down moss-covered rocks right beside the road.

If you look closely near the base of the falls, you'll spot a weathered tree stump hammered full of coins. This is a local "Wishing Tree" (or money tree), rooted in an ancient Celtic tradition.

Historically, people would hammer a coin into the bark of a holy tree or stump as an offering to the spirits or divine forces in exchange for good fortune, safe travels, or healing from illness. Legend has it that as long as the coin remains embedded in the wood, your wish or prayer remains alive. Over time, as hundreds of travelers and locals added their own coins, the stump transformed into a striking, metal-armored monument to centuries of hopes and quiet wishes.

A majestic sight anchored off Moville in Lough Foyle yesterday! ๐Ÿšขโœจ

The Seven Seas Voyager, an ultra-luxury cruise liner operated by Regent Seven Seas Cruises, made for a striking view set against the backdrop of the Inishowen hills. Built in Genoa, Italy, this 206-meter vessel carries around 700 guests and was one of the very first luxury ships in the world where every single suite features a private balcony.

Because of its scale, ships like this anchor out in the deeper waters off Moville and Greencastle, using tender boats to bring visitors ashore to explore Donegal.

Have you ever taken the trip out to Inishowen Lighthouse and Stroove Beach?

There is something truly magic about standing on these grassy hills in County Donegal, watching the waves lap against the golden sand of Stroove Beach, with the iconic lighthouse keeping guard on the headland. On a clear day like this, you get that incredible view right across Lough Foyle to the distinctive, flat-topped outline of Binevenagh Mountain rising up in the distance.

Itโ€™s one of those spots where you can just pause, take a deep breath of the salty Atlantic air, and appreciate how lucky we are to have scenery like this right on our doorstep.

There is something truly unforgettable about watching the day break over the Inishowen Peninsula. Looking back at this aerial panorama captured last year, itโ€™s a constant reminder of why setting an early alarm in Donegal is always worth it.

As the sun begins to breach the distant hills, it floods the golden arc of Tullagh Beach with warm light, sweeping across the green fields and out into the Atlantic Ocean. The morning glow breaking through the cloud cover and illuminating the dramatic headlands makes for pure magic. Moments like these, quiet, crisp, and completely tranquil, are what landscape photography is all about.

Donegalโ€™s coastline along the Wild Atlantic Way never fails to deliver incredible scenery, but Tullagh Bay holds a special charm when seen from above at first light.

A fascinating logistical dance unfolded on the River Bann a few days ago, and I was there to capture it.

Here is the journey of the cargo ship Celtica Hav as she completed her visit to Coleraine.

The ship began her day docked at the TMet facility, loading up her cargo hold with scrap metal destined for recycling overseas. In this photo, you can see the sheer volume and the heavy machinery hard at work.

Once full, the real manoeuvre began. Navigating a large cargo ship on the river is no small feat. Celtica Hav had to perform a precise turn on the Bann, showcasing the skill of her crew.

Heading towards the sea, the ship arrived at the iconic bascule train bridge. The bridge swung open to let her through, a sight that always catches the eye.

With the town behind her, Celtica Hav steamed past the final marina and towards the bar mouth, ready for her open-water voyage into the Atlantic.

I was recently invited down to Coleraine Harbour to photograph something truly extraordinary: the official launch of a converted vintage Belfast Citybus-turned-boat, built by the talented Paddy!

The craftsmanship Paddy put into this build is unbelievable. He took an iconic piece of local transport history and mounted it directly onto a hull crafted from the steel section of a decommissioned wind turbine. Talk about ultimate up-cycling!

Seeing a classic city bus floating down the water instead of navigating street traffic felt completely surreal, and made for some incredible photos. Huge credit to Paddy for his incredible vision and hard work, and a big thank you to Coleraine Harbour Commissioners for inviting me down to document the launch.

The stone mill building (Bonnerโ€™s Mill) with its classic water wheel, the gentle cascading weir in the background, and the lush greenery along the riverbanks make this one of the most picturesque spots in town.

The River Bush has a rich history tied to both local industry and the famous salmon fishery, and moments like this really show off the tranquil charm of the Causeway Coast.
