By The Rohingya Post On September 15, a Rohingya fisherman was shot by Myanmar Navy patrolling along Mayu River in Ku Lar Chaung, Rathedaung Township, Rakhine State. Mohammed Rafiq, 36, son of Nur Muhammad was fishing on the river along with his daughter at around 11:00 AM local time.

EID MUBARAK

The Year 2020 has been extremely challenging for everyone. Every society, every country and everyone is affected by the pandemic. In this difficult time, people have shown patience, solidarity and compassion towards one another, and at the same time there is a rise of xenophobic and racism against different people including Rohingya.

Despite the fear, Rohingya stand for peace and love. Rohingya are facing one of the greatest tests in refugee camps where Covid-19 has reached, resulting in panic and trauma.

My mother and siblings who are still living in Kutupalong Refugee Camp since the day we fled Myanmar in 1992, are also extremely concerned about themselves and over a million of our Rohingya people in the camps.

From Ireland, I wish and pray for strength. We can overcome every challenge together.

Rohingya community is unable to get up to date information about coronavirus infection and its preventive measures. Therefore, The European Rohingya Council urges the government of Bangladesh and Myanmar to lift restriction on internet access so that Rohingya community is able to get up to date information on coronavirus and its preventive measures to stop coronavirus infection among Rohingya community.
