The Southern Alps is a timelapse project shot over the course of a year in New Zealand.

The Southern Alps or Kā Tiritiri o te Moana is the name of the mountain range that forms the backbone of the South Island of New Zealand.

From March 2018 to March 2019 I made my home in the heart of the mountain range around the Central Lakes of Otago, including Lake Wanaka and Lake Whakatipu.

50,000 still images and over 1Tb of storage space went into this project. Only 5000 of which made the final cut.

The hope for the project was to focus purely on the mountains, how they change throughout the seasons and affect the weather of the area. Much of the footage is shot on longer lenses, focusing on the peaks of the mountain range.

Some of the mountains featured include:
Aoraki/Mount Cook
Roy's Peak
Double Cone
Walter's Peak
Mount Alta
Black Peak

All footage is available for licensing.
