"Crypt" // Blok M Session

It sucks to unrecognize a place that was once close to your heart. Knowing that it might be wiped out makes it even worse. If the rumors are true, I'm sure there will be questions flying around. Because for some people, it's going to be a pain in the ass. It's going to p**s them off. Mal Blok M used to be one of those comfortable chillaxin spots in the city for me & my punk homies. Those places have given me so many precious meanings & no-cost rad tutorials. The meaning of a social being & interacting w/ other people, how to strive & survive are some of its keepsakes that I still carry w/ me till today. But the most important thing is that they gave me FRIENDS. Elements that can make me laugh, smile, angry & cry. & they also taught me about how to take care of them. So here's the thing, I wouldn't mind letting it go if the reason is based on what the society needs NOT because of some disgusting moron said so or based on somebody's fu**ed up personal interest. Look, we already have way too many uneeded structures & sky scrapers sitting in the city. More trees & parks please!!!

"Abdul Karim" // Blok M Session

Such a huge honor to be sitting next to this man, listening to his story about the journey that he had to make after the tragedy that took something that's precious to him. Mr. Karim is currently working as a parking attendant in Mal Blok M.
It's one of Jakarta's oldest & legendary hangout spots. It's the spot that me & my punk homies used to consider as our lair. Mr. Karim has been performing on its streets since 1980 & it has become his stage ever since. He's one of the Blok M dwellers who can tell you what it's like in its prime. His eyes are used to its joys & horrors. For somebody that used to spend most of his time on the streets, I know a thing or two about what it's like to be dealing face to face w/ its elements. But the thing is, I did not experience it everyday. It wasn't my home. It will never be. In spite of the challenges & changes that Mr. Karim had to experience, he told me that he will keep on contributing till he can't do it no more & he's not planning to go anywhere anytime soon. He still wants to witness the dramas. Well, he is one of the OGs. Respect.

"Paramour"

The scene in the photo reminds me of a story.

Received an invitation from a girl on the 2nd floor w/ a glass of martini who wasn't interested w/ the whole shebang, said that her house was 30 minutes away from the venue, liked ice cream more than the martini & had a unique phone number. In the middle of our cool conversation, a hammered handsome guy appeared out of nowhere & started talking to her. From his face I could see that he wasn't comfortable w/ the scene. He wasn't happy seeing his girl talking to another guy. Yup, the seat was taken. Hahaha. At first, I thought he was just some s**tfaced dude who was trying to make a scene. Hahaha. He started asking me questions. Questions that made the scene became complicated. To prevent the s**t from escalating, I decided to back off. Before I bounced, I said something to him. I said, "Bro, yo gurlz beautiful...jas sayin, no offense!" The line stunned not only him, but the girl as well. I left, went back to my buds in the crowd & continued doing my stupid dance. Hahaha. Look, fighting over a girl/boy is STUPID. If the seat's taken, get another seat.

Btw, I ended up driving her home that night & we've been friends ever since.
