I hope to teach my daughter to view her body with kinder eyes
Undergoing so many physical changes with pregnancy, I look back on my body, even just at the start of this year with so much admiration & a bit of sadness. Knowing that underlyingly Ive always harsh on my appearance in the moment and easy to critique my looks
Iβm someone who has always really struggled with body dysmorphia and unfortunately tend to never be content with where βIβm atβ physically, and have a hard time accepting my body for what it is.
Pregnancy really puts a magnifying glass to this area that I battle with in my life. I notice Iβm a lot softer on myself through this journey as I find it incredible what our bodies are capable of, despite all the change
When I reflect on my artwork I find it amusing that a lot of my work solely revolves around the n**e & how I see so much beauty in other womenβs bodies, which I clearly and unironically struggle to find within myself whilst creating them.
I always for some reason thought I was going to be a boy mum but Iβve heard βYou donβt get the child you want; you get the child who is meant to teach you who you need to becomeβ
More and more Iβve realized how grateful I am that Iβm having a daughter and need to address & reflect on this side of myself.
To show her how to appreciate her body & have admiration for it.
