This project documents the terrestrial laser scanning of six tourism information offices across Hungary using a repeatable reality capture process. The result was a complete documentation package including colourised point clouds, AutoCAD floor plans and photographic documentation.

What happens when the elevator doesn’t fit the shaft?

In this Budapest project, 3D laser scanning and point cloud analysis were used to identify the actual geometric deviations preventing installation.

The scan data showed where corrective work was needed. The shaft was modified accordingly, the elevator was successfully installed and it is now in operation.

From physical space to usable spatial data.

This project involved the digital capture of three cemetery sites in Hungary using mobile laser scanning and GNSS surveying.

My work covered both field capture and the downstream point cloud workflow, including processing, registration, georeferencing refinement, cleaning, colourisation, optimisation and QA/QC.

One of the most important lessons from the project was simple:

the highest possible point density is not always the most useful deliverable.

The final data has to work in the environment where it will actually be used.

Hands-on WingtraRAY fixed-wing UAV field demo for Hungary’s national railway company, in cooperation with RoaData, following completion of the required drone training and examinations.

TLS, MLS, UAV - different technologies, different strengths.

The interesting part is understanding where each one fits into the workflow and what it can actually solve.

Still learning. Still testing. Still expanding the toolbox.

𝗛𝗶, 𝗜’𝗺 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 - 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗥.

For more than 15 years, I’ve been working with reality capture and geospatial technologies from mobile and terrestrial laser scanning to point clouds, processing, georeferencing and complete field-to-deliverable workflows.

RdesignR is where I bring that experience together.

Over the years, technology has changed enormously. Scanners became faster. Software became more automated. SLAM changed mobile capture. AI is now becoming part of the workflow.

But one thing hasn’t changed:

𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

Someone still needs to understand what the project actually needs, choose the right approach and connect the individual technologies into a workflow that delivers the right result.

That’s the thinking behind RdesignR.

Here I’ll be sharing projects, point clouds, field experience, technical insights, workflows and lessons learned along the way — including the problems that make this work interesting in the first place.
