If you are cropsensor Nikon Z owner, you might be thinking that Nikon is ignoring you: there's no fast aperture, extra wide lenses in Nikon's own lineup. Zero.

You want to do astrolandscape photography with a Z50? Good luck with the official Nikon glasses.

Luckily for us, Nikon lets other companies to fill in the gap!

7Artisans offers a 10mm F/2.8 prime lens dedicated for APS-C sensor mirrorless cameras, with Nikon Z, Sony E, Fuji X and even Canon RF mount.

I've been using it on my Nikon Z5 II (you can use it on full-frame bodies, but it will crop to DX), and been very satisfied with the results!

Even at F/2.8 it's sharp enough, so I just ended up using it at F/4 most of the time.

It also creates pretty good sunstars, aaaand....

They were brave enough to put a physical AF/MF switch on the lens, something I've been missing on recent lenses.

I have a "How to NOT be ripped by taxi drivers in Budapest" and just got a comment there who was charged a ridiculous amount. Moral of the story: NEVER hail a taxi, if you're a foreigner. Always use apps like Bolt or Uber.

Sometimes unexpected challenges rise on my photo tours, and yesterday we had not only one, but two :)

First, there was a peaceful protest in the city, blocking the roads we were supposed to go up to the Castle. My bad that I have forgotten about it, because the protests are on every Tuesday :)

So it took us a bit more time to get to the balconies of the Castle, where we realised something crucial was missing...

I always ask my guests prior to the tour if they have their own tripods - if the answer is yes, I usually don't carry mine, as I'm not taking photos.

Only when my photographer guest started to setup his tripod did we notice that the lever tightening the vertical axis was missing (it probably unscrewed and fell out).

It was still useable with a small lens, but not with a tele lens, because it would fall forward...

But thank God, the walls of the Castle are almost perfectly level, and with some creativity we could compose perfectly levelled shots.

Using the lenscap and folding the neckstrap under the camera did the trick 😁

And it was stable even for 15 second long exposures!

My super friendly and cool guest is originally from Sri Lanka, and he 99% succeeded in convincing me to visit his motherland.

But 100% convinced me to at least to buy a pack of Dilmah tea 😉

Thank you for taking my photo tour! 🙏

New video: this time I'm reviewing the Nikon Z50 II.
Excellent handling, the new buttons are very welcome and they finally fixed the self-timer bug...
Also got LOG profiles and 10bit video, improved autofocus, and so on:

I can't believe it, but my night PHOTO TOURS in Budapest has reached more than 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Tripadvisor reviews. 🎉
Thank you to everyone who took my tours and also wrote a review! 🙏

In 2023, another photographer, Tamás Kóczián also joined as a photo tour guide, so in these 300 review, some of them praise him for doing a great job.

We even guided Scott Kelby's group in Budapest!

In September, 2024 we've had a the biggest flood of the decade on the Danube.
Here's a comparison shot from Buda Castle - what it's like when it's "normal", versus now, with 20 feet higher levels.

I haven't made an English video for 6 months, so I was really surprised how well it performed without even announcing it anywhere.
Maybe it's because people are commenting more, or it's the thumbnail, who knows - but it has 5x the views of my Nikon Z8 review.
Thanks for Nikon Hungary and Nikon for giving me the camera for a week.
