🤍🌊 Happy Fragrance Friday 🌊🤍

This week, we have the most random purchase of my entire fragrance collecting journey: Shiro by Ajmal. It popped up on sale while I was shopping for backup bottles of my beloved Sculpture Pour Homme. It was around 20 euros, I had heard good things about Ajmal, sniffed a few of their fragrances before and liked them, and I also liked the bottle and the name. So, I didn’t even check the ratings and just added it to the cart.

The scent: aquatic accord dialled up to 11, with the most random little hints of woods and musks floating around in the background. To me, it feels like a somewhat more elegant, easier version of Megamare. Still big, still fresh, still very present, but not a nuclear bomb nor confrontational. Performance is very good, and it’s a great summer banger. Side note: I really don’t get why it’s rated so badly on Parfumo.

The photo: “Shiro” means white in Japanese, among other things, so I decided to lean into this ghostly white theme. The monolithic, slightly blurry bottle played right into my hands, and I hit it with my favourite softening filter too. The result has this clean, spectral, almost floating feeling, which fits the name and the scent too.

🖤🌫️ Happy Fragrance Fri... Monday 🌫️🖤

This week, we have a new flagship in my collection: Black Afgano by Nasomatto. The first niche fragrance I ever properly fell in love with was Black Oud by Laurent Mazzone, which is often compared to Black Afgano, sometimes even called its “introverted brother.” So, naturally, I had to experience the big brother too, and it did not disappoint . 🌑

The scent:
There is just something truly mesmerising about this type of fragrance. Deeply mysterious, intoxicating, complex, sweet, smoky, balmy, animalic, and somehow exotic and luxurious at the same time. It has that dark, confident aura that makes it feel less like a casual perfume and more like a presence. Both this and LM Black Oud have that effect where they don’t just smell good, but genuinely boost your confidence. 🖤🔥

The photo:
I wanted to properly capture the incredible detail of the cap and also test out my new high-resolution camera, the Lumix S1R. The Lumix was never really meant to be my fragrance photography camera, and the lens is not ideal for close-up product photos, but it worked out fine. The dynamic range, texture, glass, dark liquid, and overall mood came through beautifully. I hope you like it ✨

🌑🏜️ Happy Attar Friday 🏜️🌑

This week, we have something a little special on the menu: Tauer Attar AT

I’ve wanted to add an attar to my collection for a long, long time. I’ve noticed that my skin usually works better with higher concentration fragrances, so after buying L’Air du Désert Marocain and finally understanding why Tauer is so highly rated, I had to try his take on an attar too.
And honestly, I’m very happy I did.

The scent:
Dark, smoky woods with a soft hint of flowers underneath. It feels exactly like how I’d imagine a modern, finely crafted attar to smell: rich, deep, a little mysterious, but still very easily wearable.
I tried it on its own, and it’s beautiful, but I also really love it for layering. In fact, I layered it with L’Air du Désert Marocain, and the combination is breathtakingly amazing. Warm desert air, smoke, woods, florals, depth… it just works ridiculously well.

The photo:
Well, yeah… another desert fragrance photo. This time, I imagined it as a cold desert night, with stars overhead and a full moon lighting the scene. The reflection catches the metallic emblem on Tauer’s small, cute bottle, giving it that quiet, moonlit glow.
Honestly, I think this is one of my top 5 photos. Note: that’s actually sand under the bottle.
