Örömmel tudatom Veletek, hogy legújabb, Visszatérés című fotósorozatom 3. helyezett lett az idei, 36. Magyar Sajtófotó Pályázaton "Mindennapi élet (sorozat)" kategóriában. Elkészítésében a Nemzeti Kulturális Alap (NKA) alkotói támogatása volt a segítségemre. Szereplője, Kovács István csaknem 30 éven át szolgált - idővel állomásfőnökként - a Nógrád megyei Romhány vasútállomásán. Itt érte a 2007-es vonalbezárások híre is, amely ezt a szárnyvonalat sem kímélte: azév márciusában gördült be az állomásra az utolsó személyvonat. Három évvel később, 2010-ben nyugdíjazták. Azóta nem járt korábbi munkahelyénél - egészen 2017 decemberéig, amikor visszakísértem a ma már omladozó vakolatú állomáshelyre, ahol a berendezett főnöki iroda helyett egy szétvert, falnak támasztott ágy, az utoljára általa szignózott forgalmi napló és három évtized szabad szemmel nem látható emlékei fogadták.

I'm pleased to announce that my very new photo series called "Return" won a 3rd prize on the 36. Hungarian Press Photo Contest in Daily Life (series) category. The subsidy of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary (NKA) helped me to make this series. It is about István Kovács who served at the railway station of Romhány in Nógrád county for nearly 30 years, in time as a stationmaster. This is also where he received the news of the closing of lines in 2007, which effected that side line, too: in March that year, the last passenger train rolled into the station. Three years later, in 2010, he was retired. Since then, he hasn't been to his former workplace – until December, 2017 when I accompanied him back to the station now of flaking plaster where instead of a furnished chief office, he was greeted by a trashed bed stood up against the wall, the station diary last signed by him and the memories of three decades that are invisible to the naked eye.
