Eksploatacijom šuma i zemlje počinje nagli gospodarski razvoj. Velika i brojna sela postaju osnovna demografska i urbanistička jedinica.

DORF / 2022

In 19th century, Croatian region of Slavonia is being inhabited by people from all nations of Austro-Hungary empire. A fast economic development begins with the exploatation of forest and land. Villages became an elementary demographic unit. German colonists made the largest cultural impact through language, crafts and architecture. Instead of building with mud, people started to build with baked bricks which raised the quality of life. Two types of houses appeared - gable (agricultural) and longitudinal (crafts).
The irony of history is that today, due to the destroyed industry, the population is leaving Slavonia and going to Germany in search of a better life. With the extinction of the village the historic houses that became part of the cultural identity are the first to decay.
The photo series consists of photo-collages of buildings on clean plains to emphasize architecture and empty landscape, as well as a typology of houses in real spaces.
“Dorf” is a german word for village.

Velika i brojna sela postaju osnovna demografska i urbanistička jedinica.
Doseljeni Nijemci vrše najveći kulturni utjecaj na selo kroz jezik, obrte i – arhitekturu. Gradnja pečenom ciglom mjenja dotadašnju gradnju od drva i blata što bitno podiže kvalitetu života. Nastaju dva tipa kuća – zabatni (agrarni) i uzdužni (obrtnički).

TERRAFORMING / 2019

ENG
Terraforming is a hypothetical process of transforming extraterrestrial soil to make it suitable for human life. In this work I use the literal meaning of the term (Earth-shaping) for the opposite process - shaping the earth's soil to make it unsuitable (unearthly) for human life.
Slavonia, the region of Croatia, is an agricultural area - the land, soil. I capture all the changes in the soil that have emerged from the recent tragedies and the result was the mass emigration of the population. The photographs depict the consequences of war, ruined industries, neglected culture, environmental pollution, population decline and decay of villages.
I build aesthetics with the land in the focus and the fog that gives the atmosphere of alienation.

HR
