One from a 16km walk to the tower and back

Kept it light and just took my Sony and 40mm lens.

Some beautiful side light catching the tower and the long grass, still my favourite place.

One I've sat on for a while.

A tracked sky image of the Milky Way Core I took whilst sitting on the beach in Croatia.

A challenging night due to clouds continually forming where the core was.... Surprise surprise the entire sky was clear apart from near the core. I managed to get one image from a full set that was cloud free.

Contains the Sagittarius star cloud and
The Lagoon , Eagle, Trifid and Omega Nebulas (purple coloured)

Il have another attempt in the future to get some greater detail.

A beautiful night spent under the stars on Friday night/Saturday morning.

-6 on the top which froze the tarns solid. You just know winter is fast approaching when Orion is in the sky 🌌

A morning il never forget!

Witnessing a fantastic inversion from Y Lliwedd with Lliwedd Bach jutting out into the inversion with Moel Siabod poking it's head above the blanket on the horizon.

It's not often we get a chance to get above a true inversion in England and Wales. Unlike the nocturnal inversions which are shallow and can sometimes be seen from modest hills, subsidence inversion are the same type you'd see in the Alps.

Created by a stationary high pressure , air begins to descend from the upper atmosphere and as it does so dries the air. A warm layer then caps off any vertical cloud development and gets trapped underneath the inversion. If this descends low enough , you can get above it on some of our taller mountains. A strong inversion can also give you balmy warm temperatures above it and cold below... Hence it's primary name "temperature inversion" it's not uncommon to see people in a t shirt on a winters day above an inversion.

This morning was just something else!

Just came back from an amazing 11 day holiday to Croatia (my second visit). This time round I brought along my camera to make the most of some of Europe's darkest skies.

To say I was mind blown is an understatement! Amazing structure of the dust lanes, gas clouds by eye and even the nebulae with averted vision. Truly incredible.
