Perspective is everything! 🌊📸

While reviewing my Socorro archives, I found this gem. It looks like Doug is holding a giant manta balloon, but it’s actually just a perfectly timed optical illusion! He wasn't nearly as close as he looks, but the scale of these animals never ceases to amaze me.

Even with my camera still in the shop, I’m loving these reminders of how incredible the ocean is.

Turtle Strong 🐢
A friend of mine, Pauline, recently reached out with a project that truly embodies resilience. Following a health diagnosis, she adopted a new motto for her journey: "Turtle Strong."

She was looking for a specific sea turtle image to serve as the foundation for her stickers and shirts—a symbol of persistence and carrying weight with grace. I was happy to provide a few options from the Sea Vibes Photography archives to help her vision come to life.

Her granddaughter did an amazing job with the final design (pictured here). Pauline plans to hand these out as stickers of encouragement to others during her medical appointments.

Wishing Pauline nothing but strength as she moves into this next phase.

Missing the lens, but found a treasure! 📸 🌊

My camera has been in the shop for almost a month now (booo!), which has kept me from sharing anything new lately. However, the "downtime" gave me a chance to look back through some older folders, and I realized I never shared one of my absolute favorite images.

Funny enough, I wasn’t the one behind the trigger for this one! A huge thank you to my husband, Doug, for having his gear ready and capturing this incredible moment of me with this majestic manta ray.

It’s a great reminder of why we do what we do—moments like these are why conservation and protecting our oceans matter so much. Can’t wait to get my gear back, but until then, I’m happy to relive this magic.

Face-to-Face with Socorro’s Dolphins
One of the highlights of Socorro has to be the locals. These dolphins are incredibly bold—they aren't worried about us at all.

They didn't stay the whole dive, but they definitely made an appearance, swooping in close to check us out and give the camera a good look. There’s nothing quite like that eye contact in the wild.

Socorro: Heard but not seen.
The haunting hum of humpback songs was the soundtrack to our dives all last week. Even though they stayed just out of sight underwater, they more than made up for it with these massive breaches topside.

No underwater encounter this time—but I’ll take the show above the surface! Just a reason to come back.

Into the Emerald Murk
Sometimes the best encounters happen when the visibility isn't "postcard perfect." We stopped in Florida to see family after our trek to Socorro, and even though the water was murky, finding these manatees was a highlight.

There’s something incredibly soulful about a 1,000-pound gentle giant appearing out of the green haze. It’s a complete 180 from the high-energy currents and massive pelagics of the Pacific, but just as rewarding.

I still have plenty of Socorro files to work through (get ready for some serious shark and manta content!), but these quiet moments in the springs were too special not to share right away.

Florida, it’s been real. Now, back to Roatán!

Yesterday at Socorro was a first for me. I’ve seen whale sharks while snorkeling before, but seeing one while diving is a completely different experience.

There’s something about being at depth when a massive shadow finally pulls out of the blue. It’s quiet and surreal, and it’s a lot more peaceful than at the surface. This gentle giant just cruised right past us and did a little turn around before heading back into the blue. .

The Grumpy Neighbors of Roca Partida 🦈
Checking in from a tiny, jagged rock in the middle of the Pacific! These Whitetip "cuddle puddles" are something else.

The expressions are hystericle—it’s giving the "I definitely left the stove on" and "don't talk to me before my coffee." vibes. These guys clearly need names.
