Well spent 10 days in Dumaguete and yes it's a real underwater macro paradise. And on the accommodation side if you can afford the big diving resort like Atmosphere go ahead. Forgot about the cheap one they are expensive for what they are at the end. Some hotel are ok such as Gracey not far from DD.
On the diving side have used Dumaguete Divers and very happy with the service, thanks to John Robert Frazer, and the bar/restaurant is certainly one of the best place in Duain (before, between and after the dives :-)
