//I have never liked preserved poultry and sausage but they are the traditional winter food in Hong Kong. When I find this shop on Shanghai street, I am surprised that it is still surviving under the high rent and cost in this city. Although I am not sure if they are made in Hong Kong, I think this shop represents a rare but authentic sight of Hong Kong which cannot be found in popular tourist areas such as Tsim Sha Tsui.//

//The picture was taken in a market in Jordan, it shows the daily life of Hong Kong Citizens, no matter they are there to shop or to work. Because of the pandemic, they all wore masks but that did not stop them from their usual work.It shows how strong we-Hong Kong citizens are. If you look closely, the buildings are far from new, but it is beautiful in their own ways. The buildings gives us a nostalgic vibe, and I think it is the best thing Hong Kong can offer to the tourist especially after a dramatic change in other places in Hong Kong and Countries. I think Yau Tsim Mong district is the most unique and historical areas in Hong Kong that is worthy of visit.//

//Inspired by Mr Marcel Heijnen’s Hong Kong Shop Cats series, this photo is taken in a Chinese herbal medicine shop in Yau Ma Tei. Here we can see that a cat is sitting on the cabinet with a note to remind people to wear a mask during the COVID-19 epidemic. Inside the cabinet, Chinese herbal medicine is stored and displayed. Medicinal plants have been used in Chinese society to treat the sick for more than 2,000 years. Although people in Hong Kong are more used to Chinese herbal medicine, the therapeutic benefits and remedies have been used by human in different corners of the world. People of different ethnic background can also share similar cultural heritage.//

//I have never visited a pawn shop in my life. My mom told me people went there in the past people gave the shop an item in exchange for money. They can go back later to ‘buy back’ those items. Gold watch or jewellery were of course popular items but it is said that people even took their blanket there! Pawn shop has become less important in our life as we can always sell what we don’t need on the internet. Together with the neon sign hanging above the shop, these two symbols of Hong Kong are almost extinct.//

//A Muslim woman was choosing sandals in a shop near Mong Kok when I was doing a photo walk in the area. She talked to the shop owner in the background although I couldn’t hear what the conversation was about. Mong kok and Yau Ma Tei always inspire me and I do come to the area a lot to take photos. I think this area can best represent the diversity of cultures in Hong Kong.//
