I am so glad that the mom proposed to extend the session by half and hour, so we managed to capture these memorable moments with the last bit of beautiful beautiful sunshine. Kids were already tired with a bit of snack, they were up for it again;)

Let me start with this: we always do everything to make sure it never comes to that. Clear communication, reminders, prep guides—you name it.

But sometimes, life has other plans.
Especially when you’re traveling across the continent. With four kids. And you’ve booked a session that’s far away from the city center.

That’s exactly what happened during one of my favorite sessions to date.
By the time this family arrived, the golden hour had already faded. The soft, glowing light I had envisioned? Gone. Instead, we walked into blue hour—that quiet, deep-blue window just before sunset.

But here’s what I noticed right away: the kids didn’t care about the light. They weren’t watching the clock or worrying about what we’d “lost.” They just ran. They hugged. They spun each other around. They laughed until they were out of breath.

And their parents? They didn’t rush. They didn’t apologize more than once. They just showed up, present and playful, and gave their kids a full hour of undivided attention.

We didn’t get the golden hour I had planned for. But what we captured instead was something just as beautiful—maybe even more so: real, unfiltered connection. The kind that doesn’t depend on perfect light.

So if you’re ever running late to your session, take a breath. I’ll meet you where you are. Because at the end of the day, love doesn’t keep a schedule. And that’s always worth photographing
