Some of my family photography work is now in print—officially featured in MTHR Full Bloom Edition No. 02—and I’m still a little stunned even typing that.
When I sat down to choose which images to submit, I kept circling back to what truly excites me about this work I love so much.
It’s always the people I meet.
This city, Hong Kong, and everything about it that I hold dear.
The colors and connections that move me.
And that beautiful tension between simplicity and depth that family life always seems to offer.
I can still feel exactly what it was like behind the camera during those two sessions. Sure, a lot of it was about the moment of clicking the shutter. But more than that, it was the time I spent with beautiful, kind, warm-hearted people who opened their lives to me. That feeling—that rawness and trust—is usually how I know a photo is worth keeping.
I can’t quite wrap my head around the fact that strangers will flip through a magazine and land on a moment I was lucky enough to witness up close. That’s the whole reason I do this. Not just to take a pretty picture, but to preserve something real—something a family will revisit for years to come.
