The reason that I keep update my post in english most of the time is because ‘English is my 3rd language’. That’s right it is technically my 3rd language as I was born and raised by my mother who speaks Central Thai and my father who speaks Northern Thai. They both are locals but my mother was afraid that I won’t be able to speak Central Thai fluently.
I can’t write in Lanna (Northern Thai) alphabets because I known it very little. And we (Northern ppl) are rarely read or write in Lanna for decades. We use Central Thai alphabets to write with a different words spelling and pronunciation.
I am pround to be Lanna, proud to be Thai, and proud to present our food to the world. I am writing in English to just keep my skills working 😝 not because I am being ashamed about my ethnicity. Only two things that I hate about Thailand are the recent government and … (if you know, you know 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣).
I have already wasted my other two languages which are Japanese and Chinese. I have studied Japanese when I was 10 and studied Chinese when I was in a high school senior year. I had a small chance to use it or being surrounded by the people who use these languages, so my skills were gone. I only have some simple phases and words left in my memories. And I had picking up a few Korean words and small phrases from tv-series.
Language skills are different from motor skills because our body have the magnificent thing called muscle memory. For instance, once you know how to cycling, you’ll always know how to do it. While language skills just rely on your brain area. (Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong).
So I keep my English skills by posting in English, talking to myself 🤣, my boyfried, and some friends.
