Great to be asked back once again by Tim Bredbury 巴貝利 and Ampcontrol Discovery Bay to be part of their backroom staff at the HKFC Standard Chartered Soccer Sevens, providing photography for Around DB Magazine and the team, as well as being their de facto head of Social Media.

What a fabulous weekend it was, topped off by the team winning the Masters Tournament Shield, with a confident 1-0 win in the final against the PFA All Stars.

A big shout out to the team sponsors Ampcontrol, Tanner De Witt, Feather & Bone Hong Kong, ONA Mediterranean Restaurant, Atavóla Bar & Grill, Tsunami Sport, Axis Performance Physiotherapy, Around DB Magazine, RIEDEL Communications & Creative Lighting Asia (CLA) for their support.

Also a huge thanks to Scott Semple, Chairman of the tournament, for successfully overseeing what has to be one of the best Soccer Sevens tournaments around.

Here’s a few highlights from our weekend…

St. David’s Society of Hong Kong Annual Ball 2026
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇭🇰

Bit late in the day posting this, but after a number of years being the ‘go to’ event photographer for the Hong Kong St. Andrew's Society, it was nice to be working back in February for my fellow Celts over at the St. David's Society of Hong Kong.

The annual ‘Welsh Ball’ as it is colloquially known, was held once again at the Hong Kong Football Club where over 350 people were treated to a fantastic celebration of Welsh heritage. The evening, which was ably managed by MC Adam Frampton, included music from the HK Welsh Male Voice Choir, fine food & drink, dancing and of course, the obligatory leek eating competition. However the highlight had to be hearing the inspirational story of guest speaker Richard Parks, former Welsh international rugby player turned extreme endurance athlete.

Thanks to Tom Issacs and the committee for entrusting me with capturing the event this year and as they say in Wales…

Iechyd da! 🍻

Great to be asked by Mediam Rare Creative Agency earlier this year to provide interior and exterior architectural photography of the Nexxus Building, located right in the heart of Hong Kong’s Central district.

Mediam Rare are a full-service creative agency headquartered in Hong Kong, specialising in strategy, branding & production for a wide range of international brands, in order to make them stand out in the Asia market and beyond.

With this commission they were invited by the Nexxus Building’s new asset manager, Trivium, to create a refreshed set of brand assets to reflect the revitalised commercial positioning of the building.

My part in this project was to work with Boris Alexander Burgess, Mediam Rare’s co-founder, to assist him in curating a library of updated, dynamic architectural, environmental and interior images of the building, as well as its surrounding environment in Hong Kong’s CBD. Attached are a selection of the final images.

Sometimes different genres of photography overlap, as was the case when I was asked by my lighting product client Job van der Noord of JNLED, to capture some interior shots of an exhibition in the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort in Macau last year.

Job was collaborating with the interior designer to provide the lighting solutions for a new exhibition called ’The Lisboa, Stories of Macau’. Whilst my work for JN LED had previously involved providing product photography, this was a perfect opportunity for Job to utilise my skills as an interior and architectural photographer to showcase his work.

Job’s innovative lighting designs have helped to bring this museum exhibit to life, highlighting the rich history and culture of Macau. From dynamic displays to subtle accents, Job’s work has transformed the space into a storytelling journey.

What a start to the annual Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens weekend!

Last Thursday, over 500 guests packed into the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong for the 2026 Hong Kong Doddie Dinner. By the end of the evening, HK$5.3 million had been raised for the wonderful My Name'5 Doddie Foundation, set up by former Scottish international rugby player Doddie Weir and which is dedicated to funding research and supporting people affected by MND.

As well as Doddie’s son Hamish, special guests this year included Professor Edwin Chan, the leading MND researcher here in HK, as well as a host of 15’s & 7’s rugby greats, including Will Carling O.B.E, Waisale Serevi, Greig Laidlaw, Jamie Roberts, Andy Nicol, Qele Ratu and Tyla King.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by 80’s pop legend and star of stage, Jason Donovan, as well as the wonderful Crisel Consunji, the highlight arguably being their rendition of ‘Especially for You’ which certainly got many of the guests of a certain age very animated.

Finally, a big shout out to Martin Murray OBE and his team, which I'm delighted to be part of; Scott Semple& Rob Shorthouse, who along with compére Andrew Hall, PhD and DJ Scott MacKinnon, brought the whole event together to make it such a memorable evening.

🌟 Thrilled to Capture the Spirit of the Annual Hong Kong St Andrew’s Society Burns Supper! 🌟

Last week I had the pleasure once again of being invited by the Hong Kong St. Andrew's Society to cover their annual Burns Supper at the beautiful Conrad Hotel. It was a night filled with tradition, good food (including the obligatory haggis) and, of course, plenty of whisky! 🥃

The evening featured traditional speeches from Lindsay Porter (Address to the Haggis), Dr Rehana Shanks (Immortal Memory), Simon Lowth (toast to ’The Lassies’), Fiona Cheng (Reply on Behalf of The Lassies), and Lisa Glasgow (Reply on Behalf of The Guests). The evening was also kept ticking over in style and on time by MC, David Batchelor, whilst the piping in of the special guests and the haggis was provided by the ever reliable Chris Lee.

The evening concluded with some lively community singing and some interesting dance moves to the music of ’Serious Burns’

A big thank you to the committee for trusting me with this wonderful event! Looking forward to more memorable nights like this.

Working again this week for the wonderful people at Mediam Rare Creative Agency, providing interior and exterior architectural photography for one of their latest projects, I was reminded of the photographs I took for them back in 2023 for their work with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP)

HKSTP is a major driver for FinTech in Hong Kong, fostering innovation through its dedicated FinTech Centre, FinTech Virtual Lab for R&D, and strategic partnerships with banks and tech giants.

The FinTech Centre operated by the HKSTP and located at the InnoCentre in Kowloon Tong, serves as a dedicated hub to foster collaboration and innovation within Hong Kong's financial technology (fintech) ecosystem.

Here’s a few of the photographs from that shoot…

Capturing Progeny’s Visionary New Workspace in Hong Kong 📸

Progeny, a global professional services firm, engaged my client Interspace, to design and build their first totally new office in Hong Kong. A corner unit in Two Pacific Place, Admiralty was chosen by Progeny for its view, convenience, and neighbourhood. Interspace’s remit was clear: create a space that is as comfortable as it is presentable, balancing a sophisticated front-of-house for clients with a highly functional back-of-house for the team.

Here are some of the highlights…

Although November and December is very much event season for me, it’s a chance to reflect on some of the interior & architectural photography I’ve been providing for clients this year.

Here are some highlights from a recent project that I was asked to capture by my client MYN Studios, an interior design studio that excels at creating interiors that inspire and elevate. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality truly set them apart in the industry.

Their commission was for UOB Kay Hian bank, the remit being to create a stunning VIP lounge which would elevate their high worth clients experience. The result is a luxurious, sophisticated space which is certainly far removed from the standard commercial bank designs.
