Since February, following the completion of the last Lake Kerkini workshops, we entered the final stage of preparations for the UK filming of Eclipsed. Months of planning, coordination, and communication followed to arrange interviews with professors, researchers, and experts whose work contributes to a deeper understanding of light pollution and its impact on our world.

Now, after an intense week filled with filming, interviews, and countless miles on the roads of England, this chapter of the journey is coming to an end.

And that is exactly why I haven’t been very active on social media over the past few months. My full attention and energy were focused on preparing for and carrying out these shoots, making the most of every opportunity we had here.

We are heading home with valuable footage, important interviews, and experiences that will become a key part of Eclipsed. Now begins the next stage of the journey: organizing, reviewing, and transforming everything we captured into a story we cannot wait to share with you.

Από τον Φεβρουάριο, με την ολοκλήρωση των τελευταίων workshop στην Κερκίνη, μπήκαμε στην τελική φάση προετοιμασίας για τα γυρίσματα του ντοκιμαντέρ Eclipsed στην Αγγλία. Ακολούθησαν μήνες οργάνωσης, επικοινωνίας και συντονισμού, ώστε να προγραμματιστούν οι συνεντεύξεις με καθηγητές, ερευνητές και ανθρώπους που συμβάλλουν ουσιαστικά στην κατανόηση του προβλήματος της φωτορύπανσης.

Πλέον, έπειτα από μία απαιτητική εβδομάδα γεμάτη γυρίσματα, συνεντεύξεις και ατελείωτα χιλιόμετρα στους δρόμους της Αγγλίας, το ταξίδι μας φτάνει στο τέλος του.

Και αυτός είναι ο λόγος που τους τελευταίους μήνες δεν ήμουν ιδιαίτερα ενεργός στα social media. Όλη η προσοχή και η ενέργεια ήταν στραμμένες στην προετοιμασία και την υλοποίηση αυτών των γυρισμάτων, ώστε να αξιοποιηθεί στο έπακρο κάθε ευκαιρία που είχαμε εδώ.

Επιστρέφουμε με πολύτιμο υλικό, σημαντικές συνεντεύξεις και εμπειρίες που θα αποτελέσουν βασικό κομμάτι του Eclipsed. Τώρα ξεκινά το επόμενο στάδιο του ταξιδιού: η οργάνωση, η επεξεργασία και η μετατροπή όλων αυτών των στιγμών σε μια ιστορία που ανυπομονούμε να μοιραστούμε μαζί σας.

και θα πάμε και θα την δούμε και θα τα σπάσει στα ταμεία όπως σπαει νεύρα σε τυπάκια με κολλήματα για το κάστινγκ! Μιλάμε ο Νόλαν στεναχωριέται που δεν θα πάνε να την δούνε στην Ελλάδα κάποιοι γιατί η επιλογή για ωραία Ελένη του ξίνισε...κλάμαααααααααααα

Η «Οδύσσεια» του Κρίστοφερ Νόλαν γράφει ήδη ιστορία πριν βγει στις αίθουσες, καθώς είναι η πρώτη ταινία μεγάλου μήκους γυρισμένη εξ ολοκλήρου σε IMAX φιλμ. Το νέο ρεπορτάζ του 60 Minutes δείχνει γιατί ο Νόλαν επέμεινε σε αυτή την επιλογή, πώς ξεπεράστηκαν τα μεγάλα τεχνικά εμπόδια στις σκηνές διαλόγου και τι ακριβώς γίνεται σήμερα στη FotoKem, το τελευταίο εργαστήριο που παράγει 70mm κόπιες. Πίσω από την απόφαση δεν υπάρχει νοσταλγία, αλλά μια πολύ συγκεκριμένη αντίληψη για την ποιότητα εικόνας και την εμπειρία της μεγάλης οθόνης.

During our journey to Antiparos for the filming of Eclipsed, we had the opportunity to combine storytelling with education and community engagement.

With the valuable support of Blue Star Ferries, Darsky Greece, and the Municipality of Antiparos, our team traveled to the island to continue capturing the story of light pollution — a growing environmental issue that affects ecosystems, human health, and our connection to the night sky.

As part of the filming process, we organized educational presentations at both the primary school and the middle school of Antiparos. Students were introduced to the concept of light pollution, how excessive artificial light impacts wildlife behavior and human circadian rhythms, and why preserving dark skies matters for future generations.

A big thank you to everyone on the island who welcomed us so warmly and supported this effort.

❄️ Frost Without Snow and Ice – A powerful Arctic documentary that premiered at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival 2026 Thessaloniki International Film Festival .

The film by Norwegian filmmaker Asgeir Helgestad follows the life of Frost, a female polar bear in Svalbard, over more than a decade. Through stunning imagery and long-term observation, the documentary reveals the harsh reality of survival in a rapidly changing Arctic environment.

Rather than presenting climate change through numbers and statistics, the film tells an intimate story about one animal and the fragile balance between wildlife and human presence.

Visually striking and emotionally engaging, Frost Without Snow and Ice transforms a global environmental crisis into a deeply personal narrative.

Today, on World Wildlife Day, I’m sharing a video from Δράση για την Άγρια Ζωή/ Action for wildlife.

These are moments I had the honor and privilege to film, standing next to the rescuers of the organization while they worked — quietly, tirelessly, with absolute dedication. Injured, orphaned, exhausted wild animals arrive every day. Behind every release back to nature, there are hours of care, medical treatment, cleaning, feeding, and constant vigilance.

This video is not just footage. It is a reminder that wildlife survival is not abstract — it is daily, demanding, and real.

Σήμερα, με αφορμή την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Άγριας Ζωής, μοιράζομαι ένα βίντεο από τη Δράση για την Άγρια Ζωή.

Είναι πλάνα που είχα την τιμή και την προνομία να καταγράψω, δίπλα στους διασώστες της οργάνωσης την ώρα της δράσης. Τραυματισμένα, ορφανά και εξαντλημένα άγρια ζώα φτάνουν καθημερινά στο Κέντρο Περίθαλψης. Πίσω από κάθε επανένταξη στη φύση, κρύβονται ώρες φροντίδας, ιατρικής υποστήριξης και αφοσίωσης.

Το βίντεο αυτό δεν είναι απλώς εικόνες. Είναι η πραγματικότητα της άγριας ζωής και των ανθρώπων που παλεύουν καθημερινά για αυτήν.

Αν πιστεύεις ότι κάθε άγριο ζώο αξίζει μια δεύτερη ευκαιρία, στήριξε το έργο της Δράσης για την Άγρια Ζωή. Η υποστήριξή σου ενισχύει τις διασώσεις, τη θεραπεία και την επανένταξη.

It wasn’t a dramatic moment. It was a quiet shift in the rain — the kind you miss if you blink. “Everything flows,” as Heraclitus said, and on Lake Kerkini you can watch it happen in real time.

The Dalmatian pelicans move across the frame, swimming slowly until they slip out of view. And as they clear the scene, a Great White Pelican — hidden behind them all along — is revealed.

Nothing explodes. Nothing announces itself. The subject simply changes.

Δεν ήταν μια δραματική στιγμή. Ήταν μια ήσυχη μετατόπιση μέσα στη βροχή — από αυτές που αν ανοιγοκλείσεις τα μάτια, τη χάνεις. «Τα πάντα ῥεῖ», έλεγε ο Ηράκλειτος, και στην Κερκίνη το βλέπεις να συμβαίνει μπροστά σου.

Οι αργυροπελεκάνοι περνούν από το κάδρο, κολυμπούν αργά και βγαίνουν εκτός πλάνου. Και καθώς ανοίγει ο χώρος που άφησαν, αποκαλύπτεται ο ροδοπελεκάνος που κρυβόταν πίσω τους.

Καμία είσοδος. Καμία κορύφωση. Απλά αλλάζει το θέμα του κάδρου.

Five photographers. Four countries. One boat at Lake Kerkini.

Adam from Poland, Bianca and Herman from the Netherlands (based in London), Orlando from New York, and I shared more than just a workshop during the latest Kingdom of the Pelicans experience. We shared instinct, timing, and the quiet, unspoken understanding that happens when wildlife photographers respond to the same light and the same animal.

Different backgrounds. One visual language.

A sincere thank you to Adam, Bianca, Herman and Orlando for your trust, focus and energy on the water. It was a privilege to guide you and watch your vision evolve session after session.

Earlier this winter, I had the pleasure of hosting Mark Smith Photography and his friends for a full week focused on Pelicans in Lake Kerkini. Cold mornings, quiet boat rides, a brief moment of snow, and that familiar sense of anticipation that only Kerkini offers as the first light begins to rise shaped the entire experience.

Most sessions, both morning and evening, took place from the boat, allowing the Pelicans to set the pace.

A highlight of the week for me was simply watching Mark work in the field. He moves with a quiet focus — reading behavior, making small, thoughtful adjustments, and committing only when everything comes together. It’s a patient, respectful approach, and it’s exactly why his images feel so genuine and well-earned.

Στα μέσα Ιανουαρίου, φιλοξένησα τον Mark Smith και την παρέα του για μια ολόκληρη εβδομάδα αφιερωμένη στους Πελεκάνους της Κερκίνης. Κρύα πρωινά, ήσυχες βαρκάδες, μια σύντομη στιγμή χιονιού και εκείνη η αίσθηση προσμονής που μόνο η Κερκίνη χαρίζει όταν ανεβαίνει το πρώτο φως, καθόρισαν όλη την εμπειρία.

Οι περισσότερες φωτογραφίσεις, πρωί και απόγευμα, έγιναν από τη βάρκα, αφήνοντας τους Πελεκάνους να καθορίζουν τον ρυθμό.

Μέσα σε όλα αυτά ήταν και το προνόμιο να παρακολουθείς τον Mark να δουλεύει στο πεδίο. Συγκεντρωμένος, διαβάζει την κατάσταση, κάνει μικρές, ουσιαστικές διορθώσεις και “μπαίνει” στη λήψη μόνο όταν όλα δέσουν. Αυτή η υπομονετική, προσέγγιση είναι ο λόγος που οι εικόνες του βγαίνουν τόσο αληθινές και ουσιαστικές.

After months of quiet preparation—writing and erasing notes, scouting locations across both urban environments and remote landscapes, and speaking with inspiring voices in astronomy—we are proud to officially announce our upcoming documentary film:

ECLIPSED.

The original idea and concept came from my partner in crime, Christophe Anagnostopoulos, who leads the project.

ECLIPSED explores our fading connection with the universe. It examines what it truly means for humanity to lose its view of the stars, while raising awareness about the effects of light pollution—not only on people, but on ecosystems as a whole.

Light pollution is not “just an environmental issue.” It is also the gradual loss of cultural heritage and our sense of place in the cosmos. Today, 80% of humanity lives under light-polluted skies, and one-third of the world can no longer see the Milky Way from home.

Μετά από μήνες αθόρυβης προετοιμασίας—σημειώσεις που γράφτηκαν και σβήστηκαν, scouting σε τοποθεσίες από τον αστικό ιστό μέχρι απομακρυσμένα σημεία, και συζητήσεις με ανθρώπους της αστρονομίας—είμαστε περήφανοι να ανακοινώσουμε επίσημα το επερχόμενο ντοκιμαντέρ μας:

ECLIPSED.

Η αρχική ιδέα και το concept του ECLIPSED ανήκουν στον φίλο μου Χριστόφορο Αναγνωστόπουλο, ο οποίος ηγείται του project.

Το ECLIPSED εξερευνά τη σχέση μας με το σύμπαν που ξεθωριάζει. Εξετάζει το τι σημαίνει πραγματικά για την ανθρωπότητα να χάνει τη θέα των άστρων, ενώ παράλληλα αναδεικνύει τις επιπτώσεις της φωτορύπανσης όχι μόνο στον άνθρωπο, αλλά και στα οικοσυστήματα συνολικά.

Η φωτορύπανση δεν είναι «απλώς ένα περιβαλλοντικό ζήτημα». Είναι και η σταδιακή απώλεια της πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς και της αίσθησης του “πού βρισκόμαστε” μέσα στο σύμπαν. Σήμερα, το 80% της ανθρωπότητας ζει κάτω από φωτορυπασμένους ουρανούς, ενώ το ένα τρίτο δεν μπορεί πλέον να δει τον Γαλαξία μας από το σπίτι του.
