My name is Ahmad, I'm a Syrian refugee currently waiting in Thessaloniki to be relocated within Europe. I've been waiting in Greece for over a year now, arriving in Mytilene, travelling to the mainland (Athens) in hope of crossing the boarder to reach Macedonia, from Athens I traveled 4 days to arrive in Idomeni where I stayed 4 months after the boarders closed one week after I arrived at the camp. After Idomeni's evaquation I was moved to camp Sindos Karamelis where I lived for 4 months and since have been housed by an organisation that I volunteer with. It was this organisation that gave me the encouragement to take photography seriously and leant me the camera after noticing my talent.
I have been documenting my journey through photography, capturing the suffering, the lows and the rare moments of happiness and I feel I am giving the people that I take photographs of a voice. I started an Instagram account to give my photos a platform and people from around the world now see my photos and see the truth. I hope one day I am able to take photographs for a living, although I have been told it's a job I can't believe that people get paid to do this. It is a dream for me.

I am currently using a camera I have been leant but when I'm relocated I won't be able to take it with me. My interview with the UN was almost 4 months ago so I hope to be called to Athens soon to meet with the embassy of the country I'll be relocated to. I want to continue documenting my and others journeys on the next step as we're relocated and hopefully are able to settle at last. I have seen a Nikon camera in a shop not far from where I live and would like to buy it before I leave. I am asking for your help. Before I left Syria I never had to ask for help especially from people I didn't know but since being here I have seen the kind and generous hearts of humanity and I hope in the future I'm able to help people like so many have helped me.

Thank you for reading this even if you aren't able to help me with money, you could share this with someone who may want to help.

As the camp empties out and more and more families are moved out to hotels and apartments, this young boy is happy and content playing by himself. I hope his family are moved to an apartment or hotel soon so he no longer has to play on the cold dirty floors of the camp.

A week ago volunteers came to camp Sindos Karamelis and organised a children's party. I saw this girl drawing on the floor so content and lost in what she was doing. These children are so hungry to learn, I hope she's able to go to school soon.

Tonight temperatures will drop to -11° C in Thessaloniki and the Greek government has been given millions to help winterise the camps and where has it gone? People are sleeping in tents, freezing without heating. Some camps don't even have hot water. I am embarrassed for the government, how can they take this money and know that human beings are freezing to death in the camps. I thank all the volunteers & independent organisations that help us. I know it is not your job to do your job but things would be a lot worse without your help!

This photo was taken outside the UN office, in Oreokastro camp.

This is my brother Ali. We made our journey to Turkey together, but we were seperated when I went to Istanbul and he went to Sanliurfa. Six months later i had made my way to Greece and when the borders closed in Idomeni we were reunited and stayed together until I moved Lagkadikia camp and Ali was evacuated from Idomeni to Oreokastro camp.
