Some couples are simply a perfect match for me - and Melina & Julien were definitely one of them. 🤍
A beautiful couple from Canada, with Greek roots, who came to Crete with a vision of their very own Pinterest-perfect wedding… and oh, did they have it 🥰

Every detail, every moment, every little piece of their celebration felt so perfectly, and I honestly couldn’t be happier that I got to be there to capture it all.

And no, this is definitely not going to be the last post from this wedding… I simply couldn’t resist sharing this one already. 🤍

I’m incredibly honoured to have my work featured in the August issue of Tatler 🫠
Being published in a magazine with such a long-standing legacy is always a special feeling, and I’m especially grateful that Tatler continues to create space for photographers from all over the world to share their work and stories.

This image is from the beautiful wedding of Stefania & Manousos, celebrated last summer here on the island of Crete. Looking back at this moment brings back so many wonderful memories, and I’m so happy it now gets to live on in the pages of this iconic magazine.

Some celebrations transcend the idea of a wedding.

For three unforgettable days, M&O welcomed their family and friends to Crete for an experience where every moment felt intentional, every detail effortless, and every space beautifully alive.

Set within the brand new Silo & Sage | Wedding Venue Chania , the celebration unfolded with a quiet sense of luxury - never loud, never excessive, simply exquisite. A vision brought to life by an exceptionally talented wedding planner La Cabane Blanche whose creativity, impeccable eye, and flawless ex*****on transformed a remarkable venue into something truly extraordinary.

This was more than beautiful styling. It was storytelling through design, atmosphere, and emotion.

Photographing these days was an incredible privilege and one of those rare experiences that reminds me why I fell in love with documenting weddings in the first place. Working alongside such an inspiring team of creatives and witnessing this level of artistry from every single vendor made this celebration one I’ll never forget ❤️

Their “Big Fat Cretan Wedding” was everything I love about destination weddings 🫠

No ballroom. No rules. Just the heart of Rethymno.

They said “I do” inside the historic Fortezza, celebrated with an unforgettable dinner and party at Avli , and ended the night exactly the way it should end - with one last shot at their favorite local bar Poquito Barra Latina

The whole day felt effortless. Relaxed. Joyful. Full of laughter, hugs, incredible food, and the kind of moments you simply can’t stage.

This is exactly why I love documenting weddings in Crete. Every place tells a story, and every couple makes it their own.

Things nobody tells you about Greek weddings 🇬🇷

You think Greek wedding and immediately picture Mamma Mia.
White churches. A sunset ceremony. Dancing to ABBA by the sea. But a real Greek wedding? That’s a whole different story
Here are a few things nobody tells you:

🥂 A “small wedding” can mean 350 guests.
And yes - weddings with 1,500–2,000 guests actually exist.

⛪ Not everyone comes to the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony usually takes place in a church, but many guests only join later for the celebration.

👑 Greek Orthodox weddings have 3 symbolic parts:
The rings exchange - symbolizing commitment and unity.
The stefana (crowns) - symbolizing two lives becoming one.
The shared cup of wine & walking around the altar - a symbol of sharing both joy and challenges together as husband and wife.

👠 The shoe step
During the ceremony, there’s a playful tradition where the bride tries to step on the groom’s foot. According to superstition, whoever steps first will “rule” the marriage

🌾 The Rice shower
At the end of the ceremony, guests throw rice over the couple — symbolizing prosperity, abundance and a life full of blessings.

🌙 The party usually ends at sunrise.
The couple often cheers with every guest.
Every. Single. Guest.
There’s food, drinks, dancing, live music - all night!

As a wedding photographer in Greece, I can confirm:

Winter always makes me forget a little.
And then wedding season comes back and suddenly I remember everything again.
The adrenaline before the ceremony.
The wind. The sea.
People crying, laughing..
Two people choosing each other in the middle of somewhere beautiful.

Martina & Henrik got married on a cliff surrounded by the sea and left their ceremony on a donkey named Menios - which honestly feels very Greece-coded and very perfect.

And every single year I think the same thing:
I will never get bored of love ❤️

Lindsay & Pete’s wedding day unfolded like a story no one could have planned.

A fine on the way (my first in 20 years on Crete), a sudden fire in the neighboring villa, and just moments before the ceremony… rain.

For some, it might have felt like everything was going wrong.
For Lindsay, it changed nothing.

She walked into her ceremony with quiet confidence, met the love of her life, and exchanged her vows with grace and certainty.

And then, almost on cue, the rain gave way to sunlight.

A gentle reminder — while we cannot control the elements, we can choose the person we stand beside.

And in that choice, everything becomes exactly as it’s meant to be ❤️❤️❤️

The biggest nightmare of every groom?
“That I’ll have to pose in front of a camera.”
“Are you going to photograph me getting dressed? … omg please no.”

Trust me — I’ve heard it a thousand times.

But here’s the thing… groom prep isn’t really about posing or perfectly staged moments. That’s more the bride’s territory.

With you guys, it’s different.

It’s about how you feel before everything begins.
Your best friends around you.
A drink in your hand.
Laughing, joking, pretending you’re totally chill (even if your heart is racing a little).

It’s your time.

No awkward posing. No pressure.
Just real moments — captured as they are.
Like I’m not even there.

So relax… you’re going to be just fine 🍻
