How my photography changed after 3 years in Greece 🇬🇷

When I moved to Greece from Portugal, I knew what kind of photographer I was.

Creative photography was my direction. I had built a strong portfolio around it, and wanted to continue doing the same thing.

But Athens had different plans for me 😅

I quickly realized that the market for creative photography here is quite limited.

People either don’t have the budget for it, or simply aren’t looking for this kind of work.

So to make a living from photography, I had to adapt.

I started working with brands .fox.brand. That became a space where I could use my creativity.

I could build concepts, work with styling and create something visually interesting while still working commercially.

Then another unexpected direction appeared: proposals.

It taught me a different kind of photography: being present without interfering, and capturing real emotions as they unfold.

I also returned to photographing events, but in my own way .fox.events.

Not every event - only the artistic, emotional ones that feel close to me and my style.

Now my photography looks different from what I imagined when I first arrived in Greece.

But I don’t feel like I lost my direction.

I learned how to adapt my creativity, my love for real emotions to the reality of the market -

without turning myself into a photographer I never wanted to be.

And somehow, instead of narrowing my photography, Greece expanded it.
