🌠 From “cringe” to crying over Leonard Nimoy’s words — my journey into Star Trek TOS
I first shared this in a Star Trek group, but it means so much to me that I wanted to post it here too, and not just like a simple post, I even took my time to create a cozy flat lay. It’s a story that came straight from the heart — about how I discovered Star Trek and how it’s become such a meaningful part of my life. 💫🖖
It all started about three months ago when I saw Star Trek: The Original Series on Netflix. I’d heard about it all my life, but never actually sat down to watch it. This time, I told myself: why not give it a try? I didn’t want to be one of those people who’s never seen it.
My first impression? Honestly… a bit cringe😅But then I reminded myself — it was filmed in the 1960s! And since I love old movies and shows, I kept watching. After the first couple of episodes, I was hooked. I became such a huge fan of the original series and cast that I don’t even feel like watching the other ones yet 😅
I started looking for anything related to the show — books, interviews, behind-the-scenes stories. Right now I’m reading The World of Star Trek by David Gerrold, and it’s helping me understand the cast even better. When I read Leonard Nimoy’s words about William Shatner… I cried. They were so touching, so full of heart.
One photo really stayed with me — the TOS crew together, with those no longer with us in black and white, and those still with us in color. The caption read: “They are alive as long as we remember them.” I loved that. It reminded me how thankful I am that Bill is still with us, and still doing so much at his age — and that George Takei, Walter Koenig, David Gerrold and a few more are still here too. 💙
It would be a dream to meet them someday — though I know I probably never will.
Also… I have to admit it: I have a crush on Captain Kirk. But who doesn’t? 😅 And Spock reminds me so much of my dad — he worked in telecommunications and loves physics. There’s a lot of my dad in Spock, which makes watching the series even more special.
🖖 Star Trek has truly become a big part of my life now. It reminds me of the old days, when life felt simpler, before everything became so fast and digital. Pure nostalgia..
Thank you to everyone who read my story — it really makes me smile. 💫
