One of my favourite places on my photography journey is the market.

I don’t just see foodstuff. I see colours. I see life. I see people. But most captivating of all, I see industrious women who rise at the break of dawn to make ends meet.

They work with resilience, passion, and purpose, yet somehow, they do it with so much love, warmth, and beautiful smiles.

PAYING OF HOMAGE

After her performance with her mates, I watched her walk towards the student audience - literally worn out and drenched in sweat, but with an unmistakable sense of fulfilment and pride written all over her face.

I followed her. Then, she bent down and came back up, sandals in hand.

For me, the climax of the Achimota School 🎹 Founders’ Day celebration has always been the cultural performances and the beautiful homage the students pay to the founders through their performances.

Epic. Always!

THE IRONY OF POLITICS

While covering the New Patriotic Party’s recent “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration, a taxi driver nearly got beaten after shouting “Mo boa,” which literally means “You folks are lying.” His remark appeared to challenge the party’s claim that democracy is under attack.

The reaction from the already-charged crowd was immediate and nearly resulted in the driver being physically assaulted.

The intensity of the crowd’s response raises several unanswered questions about the atmosphere surrounding the demonstration and the extent to which dissenting views were tolerated.

The US Embassy in Ghana, US Embassy Ghana, marked 2026 while also commemorating the 250th Independence Celebration of the United States by inviting a select group of photographers and photography enthusiasts to celebrate the day.

Through the kind courtesy of Gerard Nartey, I had the opportunity to exhibit my work alongside other talented photographers as part of the celebration.

It was truly a memorable moment and an experience worth cherishing.

Thanks to the US Embassy and Gerard Nartey for this amazing opportunity.
