All over the place. A "welcome" to visitors of African countries.

Yup. That's some parts of Ghana! Absolutely! Disgusting, but that is what Ghana becomes! When we want to promote, others don't like it!

30/07/2026

Unbelievable. But that's Nigeria and even Ghana is starting like that! No Fun anymore!

Why I love Ghana 🇬🇭 ❣️

Update! Our Campaignis successful! ❣️! GMMB website is back online as of midday, 5th July! Reply we received yesterday from GMMB: "Thanks, the national communication authority is dealing with it." # # # **Warning: Official Ghana Museums and Monuments Board Website (gmmb.gov.gh) Appears Compromised – Redirects Visitors to Gambling and Adult Content Sites**

**July 2026**

This is becoming ridiculous.

While simply checking the official **Ghana Museums and Monuments Board** website on two different smartphones (Samsung and Honor), I was repeatedly redirected to a sleazy online gambling platform featuring explicit adult content.

The URL involved was clearly not the legitimate site. This is not a minor glitch. This is a **serious security failure** on the official website responsible for Ghana’s most important cultural heritage.

# # # A Pattern That Can No Longer Be Ignored
- Official heritage websites that repeatedly go down, get suspended, or — as seen today — get compromised with malicious redirects.
- Physical heritage sites (forts and castles) that continue to deteriorate while entrance fees are still collected.
- Press releases full of self-congratulation while basic responsibilities are neglected.

For an institution tasked with protecting UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Elmina Castle, Cape Coast Castle and many others, this level of technical failure is simply **unacceptable**.

I have been documenting Ghana’s heritage independently for **25 years**. I have seen the gap between official statements and ground reality grow wider year after year. Today’s incident is not surprising — it is the logical result of long-term institutional neglect.

# # # A Direct Message to GMMB and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture

**Fix your website immediately.**
This kind of security breach is embarrassing for the entire country.

The Ghanaian people and the international visitors who care about our history deserve better than hacked websites, rotting monuments, and endless excuses.

Proper maintenance of both physical sites and digital platforms is not optional — it is your core responsibility.

To visitors and the diaspora:
Please exercise caution when visiting official government heritage websites at this time. Independent platforms remain a more reliable source of information.

I will continue to document these issues honestly and without compromise. After 25 years of consistent work, I have earned the right to call out this level of failure.

No sugar-coating.
Only the plain, uncomfortable truth.
