RIP Lieve FRITS ❤️❤️❤️

Met intens verdriet wil ik met jullie delen dat gisterenmiddag mijn grote held, mijn lieve goede vriend en ex KLM collega Frits van de Voort afscheid heeft genomen van zijn leven hier op aarde. Nadat hij door een mountainbike-ongeluk een hoge dwarslaesie opliep en daarbij vanaf zijn nek tot aan zijn tenen volledig verlamd raakte, heeft hij 2.5 jaar lang ongelofelijk moedig gestreden om nog een beetje een menswaardig leven te kunnen leiden. En dít, ondanks de ondraaglijke zenuwpijnen, de vele medische complicaties en geen enkel uitzicht op verbetering. Frits heeft zijn vreselijke lot steeds strijdwaardig, vol humor en met veel positiviteit gedragen, maar toch voelde voor hem, de moeilijke beslissing om zijn leven te laten beëindigen als een bevrijding. Hij verlangde er enorm naar om uit zijn lijden te worden verlost en hij hoopt dat iedereen vrede zal hebben met zijn vrede.

Frits en zijn vrouw Esther betekenen ontzettend veel voor mij. Ondanks de moeilijke situatie waarin zij zelf zaten, zijn zij tijdens mijn reis een enorme support en inspiratie voor mij geweest. Over en weer hebben we elkaar urenlange voice en video messages gestuurd met daarin alleen maar oprechte interesse, positiviteit, levenslessen en heel veel liefde en vriendschap! Wat Frits maar ook Esther hebben moeten doorstaan en vooral op wat voor manier ze dat hebben gedaan verdient een diepe diepe buiging van ons allemaal!
Het is niet in woorden uit te drukken hoe dankbaar ik ben dat ik Frits heb gekend en dat ik heb mogen leren van zijn enorme vechtlust, zijn street-wise mentaliteit, zijn positiviteit en humor. Dankbaar ben ik ook dat ik nog heel even zijn buddy heb mogen zijn in de laatste weken van zijn leven.

Lieve Frits, heb een mooie bijzondere laatste vlucht, ik ga je ontzettend missen ✨❤️🙏

Your concerns are not entirely unjustified. Unfortunately the past few months didn't treat me well. I have had a number of traumatic experiences, related to private matters, that got me off track, both mentally and physically. I can't and do not yet wish to go into too much detail about this. Due to all what occured, I felt obliged to cut my journey short and regrettably, together with Hopper, return to the Netherlands. It was impossible to continue on and I was left with no choice but to return.

Given the circumstances, I'm doing well now, but I need more time to recover and get my life back on track. To all those people who supported my crowdfunding campaign last year, I want to say; I hope you will give me some time to recover. Then after, I will work on an alternative plan with which I hope to be able to bring you all back into my world of creativity and experiences again.

Just know that I am determined to come back stronger than ever. I will follow up with more details when time is ready.

Thank you so much for your compassionate messages and words of support. This has helped me enormously.

Lieve vrienden, supporters en volgers. Ik heb de afgelopen weken en maanden vele bezorgde berichten van jullie ontvangen. Ik weet het, het is lang geleden dat ik iets heb gepost en daarvoor wil ik jullie mijn excuses aanbieden. Hierbij dan even een korte update.

Jullie zorgen zijn niet geheel onterecht. Helaas hebben de afgelopen maanden mij niet goed behandeld. Ik heb op privé gebied een aantal traumatische ervaringen meegemaakt waardoor ik flink van mijn pad ben geraakt, zowel fysiek als mentaal. Ik wil en kan hier verder nog niet te diep op ingaan. Door alle gebeurtenissen voelde ik mij hierdoor genoodzaakt om mijn reis te verkorten en moest ik, samen met Hopper, terug keren naar Nederland. Het was onmogelijk om verder te gaan en ik had geen andere keuze dan terug rijden naar huis.

Het gaat nu naar omstandigheden goed met me, maar ik heb tijd nodig voor mijn herstel en om mijn leven weer op de rit te krijgen. Tegen alle mensen, die vorig jaar mijn crowdfund campagne hebben gesteund, wil ik zeggen; ik hoop dat jullie mij nog even de tijd willen geven om te herstellen. Ik ga daarna werken aan een alternatief plan waarbij ik hoop jullie allen weer mee te kunnen nemen in mijn wereld van creativiteit en beleving.

Weet dat ik vastbesloten ben om sterker terug te komen dan ooit. Ik zal als de tijd daar rijp voor is met meer details komen.

Heel erg bedankt voor de meelevende berichten en woorden van steun. Dit heeft mij enorm geholpen.

Overviewing the blacksea from Batumi in Georgia. My thoughts are with Ukraine. A tragic war is going on less than 1300 km in front of me. I have no words to decribe how intensly sad I am to see that so many people are loosing their homes, flee the places where they were raised and where they raised their children and must watch their future to be taken away from them. My heart goes out to all of you who have to face unnecessary loss and have to live in fear and insecurity.

My dear followers and friends. It's been a while that I gave you an update on my journey. I do apologies for that and I promise you to come back soon with an update. I will take you back in time to explain to you how the past few months have been. I get a lot of messages from friends and followers who are worried about me related to the war in Ukraine. Please know that I am doing well and I am safe here in Batumi. Enjoying the first spring sunrays and counting my blessings every day.

Belated Merry Christmas from Georgia.✨

Hello you all, did you enjoy your Christmas days? How did you spend them? I hope despite all lockdowns and more tightened restrictions you were able to spend them in good health together with your beloved ones.

I didn't celebrate Christmas yet. Here in Georgia they don't celebrate Christmas on 24-25th of December. It is celebrated on January 7th according to the Julian Calendar. So I can't wait to immerse myself into the Georgian way of celebrating Christmas and celebrate the traditional holidays around it too.

For those who didn't know yet, Initially I was supposed to continue my journey to Iran and celebrate the holidays with my dear friends in Tehran, but external factors have thrown a spanner in the works and therefore I had to postpone my trip to Iran again. The borders of Iran have been closed and to be frank some beautiful things were presented to me here in Tbilisi, what made me decide to stay longer and see how things evolve.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my journey is that life happens while you are making plans. Especially during pandemic times. Having the freedom to let my path develop in an organic way while to dwelling on my heart and dealing with setbacks in a creative way makes me grow. I have never learned so much as the last two years.

It seems that the obstacles became my journey and hell I am starting to loving it!

Filled with love, gratefulness and joy I am wishing you a smooth ending of 2021 and a fresh and hopeful new beginning of 2022. May love, health and laughter fill your days❤️

In the new year I will come up with a more detailed update about what I have been occupying myself with lately and what are my plans for the new year✨

Kazbegi you were amazing!

Finally! Two days without worries✨
Enjoyed a wonderful test drive to the beautiful mountains of Kasbegi with amazing friends.
So glad I am in good health again and Hopper is in top condition!

Here is another update!

I'm still in Tbilisi and after Hopper's 2nd repair I test drove him for a bit, every day. For those who have followed my recent stories, I even went back and forth to Armenia for a day to re-enter the car in Georgia. This way I could stay a few more weeks in this beautiful country. I have to finish some of the things I'm currently working on and I'll stay close to the Toyota dealer for a while because I'm "running in" the engine now. If there is anything wrong I can easily go back to the garage. This Sunday I'm going to make the trip with my good friend David that we were supposed to do before Hopper broke down again. So we go to beautiful Kasbegi, into the mountains! Because of all the health and car problems of the past few months, this is actually the first short trip I'm going to make. It feels like I'm going on vacation ;-) and I am very much looking forward to it!

Last week I was also busy writing the 'Wendy's Secrets' cards for my crowdfunding supporters. Very soon my secrets will fall on your doorstep. I am investing most of my time currently building my new website together with a very special company. I'll tell you more about that soon. I invest a lot of work in it for now, but then after, I can communicate with you in a great and interactive way while I travel.

So I'm still playing ‘office manager’ right now until the end of the month. The little cute dog you see in the photo is Indie, the dog of my friend Katie, I am watching over him a couple of days.. What a character!😄 I am having a good time with him❤️

And oh yes, the shout-outs are coming dear people, I'm pushing it out all the time because I'm so busy with that website.

At the end of November, I will have the car checked one more time and if all is well I can cross the border with peace of mind. I will tell you very soon what my plans are for my next trip! I already have this important document in my pocket! 💪 (see photos)
