Christina Draper Photography

Christina Draper Photography Photographer based in the Southwest England Welcome to my page... I am a passionate animal lover based in Dorset.

Im fortunate to have the best job capturing images of the two most majestic and loyal creatures that we are lucky enough to call friends, and along the way I have the pleasure of meeting some amazing people taking great pride in creating those special images to treasure forever. Although I had a passion for Photography from a very young age I started taking it more seriously in 2008 with a small p

oint and shoot camera. I needed to learn more and experiment with light and angles so before long I had bought my first DSLR Camera. I have been professionally taking photos since 2011 and was first Nationally published the same year. My style of photography is variable and usually dependant of the moments captured, from vibrant locations to dark and mysterious Fine Art. Having loved Horses from the day I could look into those big beautiful eyes it was a natural step for me to specialise in Equine photography, It was only a matter of time before photographing dogs would soon also become a big part of my work. Although my passion is with animals I still also enjoy occasional portrait style work. If you are interested in owning some treasured images of your animal friends please get in touch, I look forward to hearing from you.

I can’t revisit old photos without picking this one!
Taken during my time in Germany, the first time I put my lights to the test with a high speed shoot.
A great day with some amazing horses but I wanted a particular shot and although I had done great ones throughout the day, I just had not quite got what I was looking for. That moment when a horse switches it up a gear and the head is down, focus on and the power pushing from the back end.
Then as we were almost ready to call it a day, the very lovely Cookie pulls out this pose!
Still one of my absolute favorites 💙

The 2nd of my reposts, from 2009 I believe. The lovely Amy at Gwithian Beach.
I really do miss this and am a little surprised that my older work is a little better than I expected…if only I could find my hard drive with everything on!
I would 100% love to do more portrait work now I’ve learned a little bit more and have decent equipment 🥰

Revisiting old images, this was taken back in 2009, one of my first ever attempts at Portraits (Proper ones at least) made much easier by the very beautiful Chloe!

I spent last night having a much needed page clean up. All posts going right back to day one, so 16 years worth of posts 🫣

Over the next few months I will be reposting some of my favourites from over the years but I also plan to embarke on a mission to learn and improve, focusing more on discovering who I am as a photographer.

I get enjoyment from a vast range of genres, some I’m good at, others not so much! Some I’ve never tried and some I should probably never attempt again, and i tend to loose interest in a certain type of Photography when I’m doing the same things over and over, especially if it doesn’t challenge me, so I’m looking forward to pushing my limits to see what I can achieve.

I hope you will all follow me on my journey 🥰

A couple more from our test shoot the other evening, the green one was achieved using a foil rescue blanket in the background 🤣
I realise that these days I could just AI the backgrounds etc but where’s the fun in that??
I’ll post the behind the scenes in the comments.

A little sneak peak of some of my new lights in action!
Not going to lie, it was a challenge!
Firstly having lots of equipment in a VERY small room 🏠
Balancing continuous lights with a strobe ⚡️
Trying to keep my boy out of the shots, who is sat on the floor behind controlling the smoke machine. 💨
Room so thick with smoke I couldn’t actually see my model at one point 🔎
A crazy ass staffy who thinks he needs to be part of the action! 🐶
Trick or treaters banging on the door every two minutes 🎃
And Trying to remember how to do portraits instead of dogs 📸
But ended with about 10 shots so not too bad in the end!
Thank you to Georgina Jones for being patient with me 🥰🥰

I’m not sure if I ever posted these or not so here they are.
Back a few months ago in the pouring rain and freezing cold a few of the ladies from Street FC agreed to be my guinea pigs.
I usually prefer using natural light but need to remind myself every now and then what my flashes are capable of.
I have now dug them back out of hiding (still covered in mud from this day) and given them some TLC and added a few to my collection.
I have some fun stuff planned for the next few weeks so keep a look out, assuming it all goes to plan 🤣

Beech Avenue, Dorset
I’ve always wanted to go here to take pictures, of course when I do finally go, the weather is s**t, the lighting isn’t great and I have to run for my life at every opportunity to get a shot between high speed cars and motorbikes 😱

It’s been forever since I’ve posted, it’s been a bust few months with various things going on.
But back in early spring we had a new addition to the family. Unfortunately I was recovering from surgery so was unable to take many pictures of him, but I got a few.
He’s now 8 months old and basically a mini T Rex so hopfully once he gets past his craziness I GP can get some more.

Other than that I’ve had the camera out for a few shows / events and a couple of footy matches.

And I did my Sisters wedding 🎉 yes I hate photographing wedding and I swear it’s my last but I hope to be able to share a few of those pictures soon too 😊
