Black Grouse on the Esclusham Moors.
Although rare in the UK, the Black grouse come together in the Spring to 'Lek". Usually at some godforsaken hour in the morning and far from civilisation.
This footage was shot 2 hours before Sunset and 50metres from a road . .
I was there for stills photography when 14 ( ! ) Grouse turned up and just had to press the movie button on my camera to record this rare event, so apologies for the quality, I must practice video more :)

Late Spring on the Esclusham moors

The Meadow Pipits are busy collecting grubs for their young closely watched by a few raptors.
The Grouse are very wary with their chicks scurrying through the heather and Cotton grass and a pair of Canada Geese have a small brood of Gosling with the sheep keeping well away.
