Wrexham Photography Club was delighted to be contacted by Councillor Frank Hemmings, asking if we would be able to photograph a current art exhibition at Chirk Castle.

The exhibition consists of a fantastic reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry produced by a local art group for adults with dementia and their carers.

Of course we were delighted to help!

The exhibition is at Chirk Castle over June and we thoroughly recommend a visit, the artwork and detail is amazing.

Monday evening saw the end of our 2025 -26 season and AGM.

We then enjoyed a fantastic reminiscence evening where members presented old slides on a vintage projector.

We saw and enjoyed slides taken in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Richard showed us slides he had taken at 14 when he was a new excited photographer in the 70s.
David showed us wonderful slides and told us about his love of bridges when he was a young student at Bangor University in 1962.
Nevil showed us slides taken of him as a boy by his father - a founder member of Wrexham Photography Club and Bill showed us old images of Wrexham in bygone times. A really enjoyable event.

We also celebrated our annual awards presentation. We were delighted that our successful winners for 2026 are:

Mono image of the year - awarded to: Mike Mason

Colour image of the year - awarded to: Julia Kelly

The chairman's choice award - awarded to:
David Lawrence.

Photographer of the Year award 🏆 went to
Mike Mason.

Huge congratulations to all our winners 👏

Our new season begins on the 7th September.

Last night Wrexham Photography Club held its annual "Image of the Year" competition.

This allows club members to enter images which have scored highly this season in earlier competitions, or images which they like and are happy with.

Our judge was the fabulous Barbie Lyndsay.

Today club members enjoyed a visit out to Nant Mill and Plas Power Woods to get some practical help, support and advice.

This followed our 'Introduction to Photography' theory session last week.

A great afternoon was enjoyed by everyone, and some fantastic images taken! 📷

Yesterday the Club held its April photo challenge. Our subject was 'Here comes Spring'
Congratulations to club member Mike Mason who came not only in 1st place with 'First Crocuses' but also in 3rd place with 'Spring morning in Wrexham' . Well done to Stephen Lloyd who came 2nd with 'Bluebell wood impression'.
Well done to all members for some lovely images. 😃👏📷
