John Douglas Photographer

John Douglas Photographer Portsmouth based photographers with a wide range of interests, specialising in night and low light action photography.

Please contact us for full resolution imaging. Available for weddings, events, freelance work and pet portraits. I have been fascinated with photography from a young age, often taking a small camera everywhere I went as a teenager. With the invention of digital photography I started taking it more seriously, I invested in my first DSLR and eventually upgraded to a full frame camera. I originally w

anted to do landscape and nature photography but found I was better at event and low light photography. I have progressed in leaps and bounds and comfortable enough now to take on wedding photography. I have prints available for sale, I am available for events ranging from conventions to festivals to weddings. I have recently started taking an interest in pet portait photography.

In a little over a week or so it'll be the first year anniversary of the relaunch of my photography business. With Zoe Bushill being trained as second photographer and all things video promotion, admin and cleaning up after me. I'm staggered in the things we have achieved.

I am a sentimental fool and love to keep mementoes from events, press passes, set lists etc and as I was hanging the last one up today I couldn't help but feel proud of how much we have done.

When it comes to photography I do suffer with imposter syndrome and always worry about my images hoping they are ok etc but as I look at the posters and lanyards I realise I must be ok at this! So let's do a run down.

In July we secured a pass to work with our good friends These Wicked Rivers in Guildford. We arrived for sound check to the welcome from John Hartwell that we have had a few times previously "you again!"

A few days later we were at Netley Marsh, while not official photographers for the event we thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Back to official business in August for the Stubbibgton Fayre and Donkey Derby, an annual event locally where we even met the mayor of Fareham!

In October we worked with the wonderful members of Esoterica when their full time photographer Jake Ten kindly arranged for us to join him for the evening. A band I have loved for a few years.

DogFest followed Esoterica, quite literally, both events running side by side over the same weekend, and then a quiet few months.

In December we had a chat with a very good friend Richard Moss who pretty much bludgeoned us into gear to secure a press pass for Crufts, the biggest dog show in the world!

Still reeling from the long weekend and the overload of canines we managed to secure a pass to cover Dan Byrne as he toured the UK. A new voice in the rock world and already hailed as a voice of a generation.

May saw us spending the bank holiday working at The Overlord Show after a request from Ian Levings. Of course I was in my element walking around with tanks!

June started with the Bournemouth Bug Show as official photographers and an event with the coast guard with Ian once again which led to us being published on several news websites and an image from Ian edited by us, was published in a physical newspaper.

Once again we were lucky enough to work with Esoterica in June as Jake was off saving the world in paradise we offered to cover the event.

So far we have secured many things for this next year and I am hoping for many more events.

It's been a very busy, yet very rewarding year and I couldn't have done it without everyone mentioned above giving us the chance, supporting us and believing in us!

I would also like to give a special mention to Zoe. With everything else that's going on in our lives she works like a trooper and pushes herself to help keep the cogs of this machine we're building oiled. She's taken to the cameras well and I'm so proud of her.

So that was the last 12 months... Bring on the next 12! We are available for bookings, events, weddings, even exotic pets!

Did anyone see the Portsmouth New newspaper yesterday??

This photo was taken by Ian Levings from South Coast Drones UK, even though the news gave us credit for the picture, we just helped with the editing.

It was an amazing evening and we would love to be invited to any other events.

We were lucky enough to be given a chance to work with Dan Byrne before he becomes a global megastar! We took the cameras to The Joiners in Southampton. As we approached the venue the man himself was standing outside, a little introduction and a chat before we headed inside. Such a lovely young man.

He has been hailed as a voice of a generation, and compared to the late great Chris Cornell. We kept a set list and the photo pass wrist bands as a memento and will watch as he climbs the rock ladder knowing we were there at the beginning.
