Not the result would’ve wanted against a good 2s side.

Nevertheless, there were plenty of good moments for me to capture, and the ladies always played with a smile on their faces and my lens always targets smiles!

Hopefully one more 1s game for me next week, 🤞 for the weather!

A Quick (and Necessary!) Correction 📸

If you saw my previous post celebrating the 6,000-photo milestone, you might have noticed a few things were... way off.

I tried using an AI graphic tool to overlay the text headers, and instead of just adding numbers, it completely warped and distorted the photo—changing the player’s face, messing up details, and even adding typos!

As a sports photographer, the absolute priority is preserving the real action, the real emotion, and the actual people who make Varsity what it is.

Lesson learned: AI is definitely not ready to handle sports photography! 🤖❌

I went back to the old-fashioned way and designed this version myself to protect the integrity of the original shot.

Thank you so much for the incredible support on the milestone—here is the actual 6,000th celebration graphic, exactly as it was meant to be seen! 🏐🔥

That is the number of photos I have captured of v Varsity (2022-26).

That is the number of memories I have captured* of this annual battle between fierce local rivals.

This is a number that represents my Varsity legacy…so far!

My Varsity journey isn’t over yet, I have many more memories to capture, but for now let’s celebrate 4 years, 5 Varsities, of amazing action, which you can see at my website (the link is in my bio).

Over the next few weeks I will celebrate my own favourite moments from the 6000+ I have photographed. What are your favourite memories?

I bet you’d thought I had no more photos from Varsity 2026! Well, how wrong you are as I was fortunate to be able to take a few photos of the fabulous , who performed at various time during Arena Day.

Lovely to see the ladies again, really enjoyed their energy and enthusiasm! Look forward to working with them more next year!

Time for a progress report on my Varsity 2026 photos.

I have now completed the photos from Gloucester Day, and Varsity Cricket.

I am aiming to complete Varsity Equestrian photos today, before moving on to the Arena Day photos for Dance, Netball and Basketball (I will also have a few Cheerleading photos too!), to be completed by Wednesday 29th April.

Hopefully I will get them done sooner.

Varsity 2026 has ended. An amazing week of sport for me has finished, and although the final Arena Day may have concluded quietly, the whole day was not without drama, skill, style, energy and commitment..and that was just from the photographer!

Seriously, it has been a most wonderful week (4th win in 5 since 2022) where I have taken loads of photos, which I’ll be working on for a few days more (see below), when my thoughts will turn to Varsity 2027!

Thanks for the memories, thanks for the shouts of “Purple Swan” and “Dave”, thanks for being the best students and staff in the world!
