CathyD Photography Hi I'm Cathy. I love photography, especially macro, and being out in a woods or a nature reserve hunting for creepy crawlies. Hello! - and welcome to my page.

However, I am also hireable for any midlands based non-wedding events, Theatre group photography, and promotional work! My name is Cathryn Dhonau and I hail from Worcester, England. Photography had been my hobby for many years, making time for it when I could between my shifts as a carer in a hospice. Working in care for 18 years, I listened to a lot of life stories, and all too commonly heard the

words “I wish I’d…”
Three short words heard so often eventually leave an indelible mark, and as much as I enjoyed care work, my dream was to be able to take my photography forward. I soon realised how hard it is to learn a new profession when wrapped up in such a demanding one, so with the support of my lovely family, I took a year out. I converted a bedroom into a small studio and concentrated solely on building my knowledge and confidence in as many aspects of photography as I could. I consider myself an ‘eclectic photographer’. I love it all: people, macro, scenery, creative, abstract – I find that the genres influence each other to often give me different ideas to capture what is happening around me. I get the same buzz from all of it and will try anything!

WARNING - PHOTODUMP 😆 It's been a VERY busy few months, but sadly not in the photographical sense. When I've not been working, I've been packing or unpacking, what with my husband and I moving house, shortly followed by also moving my parents. If I never see a roll of tape again it will be too soon! Combine that little lot with it just being too hot to spend much time outdoors!

Luckily, our new home had an enormous flower-laden Buddleia which began to bloom a week or so after moving in, providing me with hundreds of things with wings I love photographing so much. It was soul-food amongst the chaos I tell you! That and a day's respite at Spetchley Gardens with Kempsey Camera Club helped keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay.

So today I saw something a little unusual while sitting in my garden...A wasp, swooped down on a butterfly, grabbed hold...

So today I saw something a little unusual while sitting in my garden...A wasp, swooped down on a butterfly, grabbed hold of it, wrestled with it as it flew to a large shrub, and then proceeded to frenetically pull it apart! I'd been mooching about with the camera a little earlier so luckily had it to grab and managed to just snapped a few before it flew off again! I was left a bit traumatised - I didn't know waspies did that!
