Can we talk about something that’s driving me mad lately?
PLEASE STOP RUINING YOUR BUSINESS CREDIBILITY WITH FAKE AI-GENERATED IMAGES!
I get it, it’s easier, quicker, and cheaper than hiring a photographer. But honestly, is it really worth it long term?
Yesterday, in a business WhatsApp group, someone proudly shared their new website. They’d invested their hard-earned cash in a designer, and it looked great… until I saw the “services” section.
It’s a private healthcare business, and right there was a fake AI image of someone having their blood pressure measured, except the cuff wasn’t even in the right place!
What message does that say about your business? Does it build trust? Does it show professionalism? Even without a medical background, anyone can see it looks off.
And here’s another one. Someone recently sent me an AI-generated picture using a headshot I had taken. They had added fake hands and a product using AI and wanted to use it for a product launch. They asked if I was OK with it. Of course, I said NO.
Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, copyright in a photograph belongs automatically and exclusively to the photographer the moment the shutter is pressed. This applies whether the shoot was paid for, gifted, or commissioned and if there was a contract signed or not.
That means I hold full copyright over all images from our session, including the right to control modifications such as AI manipulation.
I don’t give permission for AI manipulation of my work. It ruins my artistic integrity and disrespects the professional skill, time, and talent that go into creating authentic imagery.
Authenticity matters. Real images build real trust.
So people, can we please wake up?
If you want images that truly reflect you and your brand, I would love to help.
Rant over.
