Sometimes, the decision to "watch and wait" results in people developing ketoacidosis (DKA), a life-threatening condition. I took my child to the doctor one month ago because they were going to the toilet frequently, even during the night. They had also been drinking a lot. The doctor tested for a UTI, that's it, and made me feel like I was being an overprotective dad, making me feel like I don't know my own child. So I let it go and thought they would get better. Two months later, they were the same, but they were constantly hungry and losing weight, so I took them to a different doctor. She thankfully requested a blood glucose test and a few others. Their BGL was so high that pathology called an ambulance to our house. 💔
