A little honesty about my photography 📸🤍
I saw a comment today (aimed at my work) questioning how people can pay for photographers when their work can sometimes look like it was taken on a phone.
It did make me think… because I am still relatively new to photography.
I’m self-taught, I’ve been doing this for just over a year, and I am learning something new with every single shoot. I’m not claiming to be the most experienced photographer out there and I never will.
But I also know how much work goes into every gallery I deliver.
It’s not just taking a photo. It’s learning my camera, understanding light, choosing settings, directing people, capturing the moments, going through hundreds of images, carefully editing them and making sure the final gallery is something my clients are genuinely happy with.
And yes, sometimes I look back at an older gallery and see things I would do differently now. That’s called learning. 🤍
I’m proud of how far I’ve come in a relatively short amount of time and I’m even more excited to see where I can take this.
My prices reflect where I am in my journey, which is why I aim to keep my photography affordable while I continue to build my experience and my business.
I don’t need to pretend I’m an established photographer with 10+ years of experience. I’m not.
I’m Shelbie, I’m learning, I’m working hard, and I’m building something that I’m genuinely proud of. 📸
