Well, I am a foreigner on this island, so probably I am not the best person to talk about the Royal Family. Even more if you consider that I was born and raised in a colony, which makes me be against monarchies by nature. BUT, I REALLY LIKE the Royal Family.🤷🏻‍♂️ 😅
I like History in general and for this fact I know that I should have even more aversion against UK's monarchy, regarding their acts throughout time. But I also think that it was regarding the advance of UK's technology - mostly in Victorian times, that we could have A LOT of improvements today that maybe would not be possible without their action.
With great powers comes great responsibilities I know. And obviously there were/are so many faults, imposing their culture on top of another's, provoking so many wars, institute technologies that are prejudice to our planet until today, just to name a few.
But it is also a fact that many items and improvements that we can use today are direct or indirectly associated with the perception of the future from this small island and, at some extent, from this family.

Another factor that make me have a good perception of the Royal Family as an important part of this country structure is related that, throughout history, England and United Kingdom had many Queens. And this, in my white male foreigner perception (so maybe not the best person to talk about it) makes a difference on the women empowerment. In this island men were used to see women in power, which is not very common in another parts of the World, if you think about it. Even more if you consider in which ages we are talking about.
I know that although having Queens here and there, this didn't make a real difference to achieve equality in another levels of society. But I believe that it was because of this fact, to have a woman in a prominent leadership role, that gave inspiration to Suffrage Movements to start in London in the early 1900's. Movements that later led to women achieve the right to vote and that are until today inspiration to overturn gender inequalities across the World, through feminism.
I know many consider that Queen Victoria could have done more for the cause when she was in her role as Sovereign. But, this is already another subject, and I will leave it in blank for now.
I know barely nothing about England's History and the Suffrage Movement. So if I gone too far on my perception, please let me know. I am open for talking! 😊

Above the main entrance of Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff you can see a monumental inscription by Welsh writer Gwyneth Lewis, written in both English and Welsh.

The letters say: "In These Stones Horizons Sing (Creu Gwir Fel Gwydr O Ffwrnais Awen)"

In this particular photo I tried to capture the brightness of the sun reflected in the iron facade, having a cloudy sky behind it.

I really don't know why, but I love bridges. I think is for the fact that I am a designer and love architecture, so they represent something that I would be very happy to design myself, more than a building for example.
Could be also for the fact that I cannot swim, so they are my safe heaven. I can be at the top of a river without the fear.
Whichever is the reason, is one of the things that I am attracted to and usually you will find me photographing them.

This is from Dom Luís I bridge in city of Porto, taken last year when visiting the city.

Farolim de Felgueiras is a lighthouse at the edge of Douro River, when it finds the Ocean.
I have discovered this place through some pictures on Instagram from the zillion of Photographers that I follow in there.
When my family decided to visit Porto after they came to visit me in London, and when it was arranged for me and my wife to go with them, this place, alongside with Dom Luís I bridge, was the one that I was willingly to see.

One day I would like to return to do more pictures of it, and if possible, one that the waves are storming behind it more aggressively.

King's College Chapel in Cambridge.

Quite recently I was reading the second book of The Grantchester Mysteries by James Runcie, which is based in Cambridge vicinity.
In one of the stories, there is a part that some students hike the roof of King's College Chapel and one of them suddenly falls from it.
The description in the book made me comeback to the day that I visited the city. The significant difference is that the story was during the winter and is settled in the 1950's, while I visited in one of the hottest days of 2019 Summer.

If you like Agatha Christie and detective novels, give a chance for this book series. If you don't like reading, these books became a tv series from ITV, so you can watch it instead. I particularly am waiting to finish all the books to start watching it.

The Hub is a public arts and events building in the centre of Edinburgh, Scotland. Located at the top of the Royal Mile, it is a prominent landmark as its tall gothic spire is the highest point in central Edinburgh.

I REALLY like the sky in these photos. Its colours highly contrast with the darkness of the building, turning something gothic into vivid.

You can have both of this photos at your wall at home, you just need to follow the link: https://www.redbubble.com/i/framed-print/The-HUB-by-eduardovieiradp/51564593.AJ1A3

Since we are in the castle vibe, I considered to post another one, this time of Cardiff Castle itself.

In this picture, taken by the first step of the stairway that leads to the entrance gate, you can see the majestic of the nearly 1000 years old stone fortification, imposing defiantly. Final touch is given by the waving flag of Wales, which was a hint of luck - and persistence, why not - of my part.

As usual, you may find this, and some other AMAZING photos of this incredible castle at my Redbubble store: https://www.redbubble.com/i/framed-print/Cardiff-Castle-by-eduardovieiradp/51431042.AJ1A3

Castell Coch (or Red Castle) is a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle built above the village of Tongwynlais in South Wales.

Surrounded by a forest, you have the impression that you entered in a fairytale. When in there I kept looking, searching for some old lady covered in black whom are willing to offer me some apples. 😅

This picture of one of the castle towers was taken from the opposite parapet above the courtyard.

Fun fact: From one of the windows you can actually see Cardiff skyline in a far distance. 🙂

How about give that fairytale air to your living room with a frame of this stunning place? Just visit the link: https://www.redbubble.com/i/framed-print/Castell-Coch-by-eduardovieiradp/51419602.AJ1A3

Rye is a village in East Sussex, southeast coast of England. The first time I have any clue about it was through Instagram, when I saw exactly a picture of this spot, on Mermaid Street. Since then transformed into one of my "wanna visit" destinations.

The Mermaid Inn was established in this place during the 12th century, and this building exactly as it is today, was re-constructed in the 15th century, which makes it older than Brazil, my birth country. 🤯

The first time I visited Brighton was during a quick travel through London back in 2015. I knew about the city because I had created that time a board on Pinterest to save some places that I would like to visit. But mostly, I knew about it because of Architects, one of my favorite bands at the time, who are from the city. Actually, they have a music called BTN, which I realised later than I should, that is regarding the code used to identify the station accordingly to the National Railway system.

In this photo exactly, taken in a later trip to the city in 2020, I REALLY like the clouds formation on the background. They look like to me as a massive wave that will soon engulf the city and covered it with whatever it is bringing.
