Beautiful weather on Sunday to photograph North Dorset Rugby Club Ladies' team play Bridgwater & Albion Rugby Football Club Ladies at Slaughtergate. It was good to see both teams contesting the match with such spirit and goodwill.
Here are a few of very many photos taken. Please see the first comment for a clickable link to see the others on my website.

Photographs from North Dorset Rugby Club XV vs. Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Football Club at Slaughtergate on Saturday are now on my website. See first comment for a direct link to the website. North were welcomed on to the pitch by a mini-rugby guard of honour complete with green flares! This was a crunch match for both sides and was played competitively to the very end when RWBFC came out on top. The large crowd were treated to an excellent match played in spirit by both sides.

Took some photos of these little fellows yesterday. They are always cheerfully chirping in our hedge and house eaves. The common House Sparrow, passer domesticus, is no longer as common as it used to be. There have been marked declines in their populations, particularly in London. Generally throughout the UK this has been attributed to loss of insect population as a food source, sealing of grain silos on farms and changes in farm cropping routines, and new housing not have the cracks and crevices for the sparrows to nest.
The males are clearly distinguishable by their black bibs on their chests which extend to their black beaks. The females don't have this bib and their beaks are lighter coloured.

A few photos of historical re-enacter, Sarah Jane Worrall, taken at a studio session recently. The lighting was Profoto supplied by AJ's Studio and Camera Supplies and the backdrop was from Click Backdrops . Sarah was a fantastic model to work with.

Absolutely beyond thrilled to have been awarded a Gold in The Society of Photographers monthly competition, monochrome section, with this image. Having previously received Highly Commended's this is my first Gold and it means so much to me as it is a competition open to some of the best photographers in the world and judged by some of the best judges too. Thank you Societies.

Delighted to report that 3 of my images have been accepted into the Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) annual exhibition, which will be at Stover Park, near Newton Abbott, from May 2nd to May 11th. The acceptance mark was 13/15 and one of my images, the Black and Tan Cocker Spaniel, achieved the maximum mark of 15/15. Two other images missed acceptance by just one mark.

Just received the news that 3 of my images have been accepted into the Basingstoke Photography Salon 2026 Open section. This is a nationwide photography competition. 1370 images were entered into the Open competition with just 330 accepted to be exhibitied. That's an acceptance rate of just over 24%.
I haven't entered any of these competitions for a while so thought I would have a go. As you can see they are some of my horse and dog photos 🙂
If you would like me to take some photos of your horse or dog then do get in touch.

Experimenting with a black and white conversion and find I quite like this shot. The monochrome removes some of the distractions, such as a fluorescent top, and highlights the flying sand catching the sunlight. We haven't had a lot of that!
This photo was taken on the sand gallops at Joe Tizzard - Tizzard Racing. Many thanks to Joe and his team for their patience with me.
