Life has been so busy recently, photography has taken a bit of a backseat. I have some freelance work coming up and I’m really excited to have a busy June. But first, I have a mega DIY long weekend ahead of me, today I was busy countersinking all the nails in my floorboards (my back didn’t thank me for it) ready for the floor sander to arrive tomorrow. I’m nervous about doing it myself, but I’ve tried so many new things and learned so many skills since getting the house. I know, whatever the result, I’ll know more tomorrow than I did today - which is pretty fulfilling. Photography content may resume soon!

Another one from the camera roll (must get better at posting on socials 🤦🏻‍♀️. This was my first ever trip to Crosby, which was a couple of years ago on a midweek date night. I love this time of year, here’s to more Midweek Mini Adventures™️ in search of urban nature. I’ve been preoccupied with either DIY, editing or overtime so I’m leaving this here as a reminder to myself to admire a sunset once in a while.

I love playing around with settings on my phone to see what different kinds of photos I can get.

I took this at a couple of summers ago.

I lined up my phone camera with helpful geometric patterns on the tiled floor, figured out roughly where the middle would be (the camera lens was in the middle, not my phone, so it took a little bit of working out*).

Then I waited for the space to quieten down a bit, set a 10 second timer, popped my phone back in the position I was happy with and hit the shutter and moved away from my phone to get out of the frame.

The timer function is great for getting shots with all the family and friends, but you can use it in unexpectedly brilliant ways.

Have you guys played around with the camera settings much on your phone? Tag me in your timer shots!!

*Tip: the up volume button on your iPhone can be used as the shutter button. In order to use the best camera on my phone, I used the back camera, therefore my phone screen was facing down when I took this and I couldn’t actually see what I was getting. So I took some test shots using the up volume button, to get my phone in the right position.

My car was in the garage today, so I chose to work from “home” (The Studio), which gave me the opportunity to celebrate Earth Day by a) not polluting and b) appreciating our urban green space along the canal on the walk.

Had the time of my life discussing personal journeys, community and imposter syndrome on the Fortuna Female Society FFS podcast!

Do something that scares you everyday! This certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone being in front of the camera for a change. For those who know me, I’m not one for social media videos or talking so candidly about myself. But, it was great to take stock and look at how much has changed for the better in my life because ultimately I needed it to.

I’m very grateful for the opportunity to put the world to rights (just like usual but this time in a studio setting) so thank you again Laura Bevan for inviting me to your wonderful show. Can’t wait for the next episode!
