Hands down, farming couples have some of the best bridal parties.
Rachel and Andy’s wedding last Saturday was the perfect example of why.
At St Mary’s Church, Burleydam with around 150 guests, space was tight and we were pretty restricted to a small stretch of pavement for the confetti shot.
Toni, my second shooter said “let’s stop the traffic”
The groomsmen didn’t hesitate. They literally stepped in and stopped traffic through the village so we could get the shot safely and quickly. No fuss, just “we’ll make it work.”
And then somehow, things got even better.
After the ceremony, Andy’s dad turned up with a vintage Chevrolet, and suddenly everyone gathered around it — it was impossible not to photograph it.
I could see the shot immediately: the whole group shot, with the car, the church in the background. One of those moments you don’t want to miss.
The only problem? My drone and lighting gear were back at the marquee as I unloaded them during bride prep and heading back wasn’t an option.
I looked at the situation and said, “We need to do this now.” Toni 100% agreed.
So I turned to the groomsmen and asked if there was any chance any one of you could run into church and ask if they have a step ladder.
Without hesitation one of them said, “I’ve got some on the van.”
The universe was agreeing this was the right decision!
Next thing I know, four of them are heading to the van, getting the ladders, and helping set everything up so we could get the shot.
No hesitation. No fuss. Just everyone pulling together to make it happen.
And that’s the thing.
Those moments aren’t just about the photograph — they’re about everyone being present, working together, and making space for something memorable while the whole day is still happening.
It actually meant we got everything done there and then, which gave Andy and Rachel more time with their guests later — no rushing and gathering 150 people later on.
These are the parts of weddings I love most.
