My day usually starts way before the camera even comes out.

11:30am — getting gear ready, batteries checked, outfits planned.
45mins–1hr commute to location.
Arrive at least 30mins early to scout the best spots, test lighting, and plan shots.
Then… we wait for clients 😆
Sometimes we gist, mess around out of boredom, and wait some more because African time is still undefeated 🤭

Then the actual shoot begins.
After the session? Another long trip back home.

But it still doesn’t end there…

Unpack gear.
Transfer and backup images.
Cull through hundreds of photos.
Wait for client selections.
Then editing begins — usually 3–5 hours depending on the number of images.

So when photographers say it’s more than just ‘taking pictures’, this is what we mean. You’re not only paying for 1 hour with a camera, you’re paying for the time, planning, creativity, experience, and work that happens before and after the shoot too ✨

Little reminder: be patient with your photographers… we’re carefully creating memories you’ll probably look back on for years 🤍”

It's not the camera body. You can rent those.

It's not the number of photos. More isn't better.

It's experience. Knowing what to do when the timeline collapses. Knowing how to make nervous people look natural in 60 seconds. Knowing which 300 images out of 3,000 actually tell the story.

Price buys equipment. Investment buys experience.

"Just get a few quick ones."
"Can everyone squeeze in?"
"We'll do photos after dark."
"My uncle has a good camera too."
"We're not really photo people."

Your photographer can work with almost anything. But time and trust make the difference between photos you like and photos you love.

Save this and send it to your wedding party. Gently.

The wedding day is chapter one. The edit is chapter two.

After your wedding, I spend 40–60 hours culling, colour-grading, retouching, and sequencing your gallery. Every image is individually adjusted. Every distraction is quietly removed. Your 3,000 shots become the 300–500 that actually tell your story.

It's not a filter. It's a craft. And it takes as long as the day itself.

Golden hour is beautiful. But it's not the only time for great photos.

Overcast skies give soft, even light that's incredibly flattering. Open shade at midday can be just as stunning. A rainy afternoon creates mood that golden hour never could.

A skilled photographer doesn't wait for perfect light. They find it wherever it is.

Good light is everywhere. You just need someone who knows where to look.

The rain that forced you under a doorway will give you your best photo.
The speech that went off-script will be the one everyone talks about for years.

The cake that leaned slightly will be the funniest story you tell at every dinner party.
Perfection is forgettable. The imperfect stuff is what makes it yours.

Stop planning the perfect day. Plan a real one.

To stop.

To stand still for 30 seconds in the middle of it all and actually look at each other.

Not for a photo. Not for a moment. Just for you.

The day moves so fast that most couples say it felt like two hours. Because they never paused.

Find each other in the chaos. Even for a minute.

The visible part of my job is pointing a camera. The invisible part is everything else.

Arriving early. Scouting angles. Moving objects out of backgrounds. Checking the light every 20 minutes. Coordinating with your vendors so you don't have to.

You'll never see most of this happening. But you'll see it in every photo.
