This is Kirsty, the creative mind behind Make, Do & Trend , a craft business bringing creativity to the Horsham community.

What began as a university project while studying fashion slowly grew alongside her day job and is now her full time work, fitted around family life. Over the years it has evolved from adult workshops and hen parties to include pre school sessions and children’s workshops, all centred around themed, accessible crafts for complete beginners.

Photographing Kirsty felt like being part of the session rather than observing from the outside. She has such a natural, calm way with the children and it was lovely to connect with both the mums and the little ones taking part. We didn’t know each other well before this, but we have definitely become friends since. She is a joy to be around and her creativity is genuinely inspiring.

This is your reminder to book that bluebell session, just 5 spots remaining.

I have just two spaces available on Saturday 11th April and three spaces on Saturday 18th April.

Although at the speed these bluebells are appearing, we may need to move these sessions forward a few weekends! I swear they get earlier every year!

Wednesday 8th April | 10:30 - 11:30 | Horsham location | £12.50 per family

This workshop is for children (aged 4-12) who love taking photos (on a camera or a phone) and want to learn a few simple tricks to make their pictures even better.

We’ll spend an hour outside exploring, playing a few creative challenges and learning about things like light, angles and composition in a really relaxed way.

No experience needed, just curiosity and a love of noticing the little things.

Price is for up to 3 children. Extra children are very welcome (£5 each).

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about creative work and the people behind it.

The quiet makers.
The messy studios.
The process, not just the finished piece.

That’s what I love to photograph... not perfection, but the rhythm of someone doing the thing they care about.

If you’re a creative business owner (or know someone who is), I would love an introduction.

There’s a reason time feels different once you have a baby.

Psychologists talk about how time seems to move faster as we get older... not because it actually does, but because our days become familiar. We stop noticing the details, and our brains process less 'new' information, so whole weeks slip by without us realising.

Newborn life is the opposite.

Everything is new.

Every sound, every expression, every tiny change.

And yet somehow… it still disappears in a blur.

One minute they fit on your chest, the next you’re packing away the first size clothes.

Photographs can’t slow time, but they do hold onto the parts our tired brains forget: the curled fingers, the milky yawns, the way they only ever slept on you.

If you’re in those early days, this is your gentle reminder: it feels slow now, but it won’t last. Savour it while you’re in it.

Illuminated: Small Business Stories

Into The Wilderness Floristry

This is Billie, the face and hands behind

Billie is a florist creating beautiful, considered floral designs that feel natural, romantic and a little bit wild.

Before flowers took over, she worked as a graphic designer, including time as Senior Designer at The Ivy, and that design background runs through everything she creates.

To Billie, flowers are not just flowers, they are compositions, shaped by colour, texture and movement.

Photographing Billie felt like catching up with a mum friend.

We chatted over tea about bad nights’ sleep, germy children and the general juggle of life.

We were completely aligned in letting the mess show, with cuttings left out and flowers drifting into the frame to soften the images.

Even though this was the first time we had properly met in person, it felt like I had known her for ages.

Everything we had planned through mood boards and conversations came together so naturally. It really did feel like the icing on the cake.

I see you, Mama.

You’re the one who remembers where the favourite teddy is. You’re the one who knows exactly how they like their toast cut. And you are almost certainly the one behind the camera, capturing every milestone, every funny face, and every 'first'.

But when your children look back at their childhood albums in twenty years, will they see you there? Will they see the way you tucked their hair behind their ear, or how they fit perfectly into the curve of your arm?

Being the 'Memory Keeper' is a beautiful role, but you deserve to be in the memories too.

Anyone else feeling a little like this?

These winter months can seem long, especially when it is grey and miserable.

It leaves you feeling tired.

Everyone says try to lean in to the slower pace.

But the colds, early night falls and rain can leave you feeling exhausted and that's okay too.

But Spring has sprung...although feels a little fleeting on cold days like this).

Brighter days are coming.

Illuminated: Small Business Stories

This is Bex, though most people know her as Pigeon, the creative heart behind .

Bex is a fibre artist and crochet designer based in West Sussex.

She has been running her business since 2012, building it slowly alongside motherhood, family life and all the busy layers that come with both.

Her work is all about finding joy in everyday moments and making creativity feel playful, accessible and part of real life... which I am totally here for!

Photographing Bex felt like hanging out with a friend (maybe because she is a friend🤣).

It felt creative, warm, busy and exciting all at once.

It was a dark grey day so we leaned into it with fairy lights glowing in the kitchen and a roaring fire nearby.

This, to me, is when I want to crochet, sat in front of warmth with time slowing down.

I loved her eclectic, slightly darker touches like skulls and ghosty mugs, and how open she was to showing up exactly as she is.

The highlight was dancing in the kitchen like no one was watching.

Mother's Day Minis are coming soon!

I loved these sessions so much last year, so I have decided to stick with the same location this year.

Start dropping the hints now or maybe even just ask out right! These other halves sometimes need a more obvious nudge in the right direction!

Spend 25 mins outdoors, with your little (or big ones), connecting and playing, and capture these moments forever... before they grow up any more.

Keep an eye out for a date and booking details coming soon! Priority booking will be sent to my email subscribers before, so sign up now, if you aren't already.
